Cryptoasset Inheritance Planning: A Simple Guide for Owners by Pamela Morgan (scuse the fact "crypto" in the title - but there is some very practical tips on succession planning for digital assets)
Time to sit down and shhplain how to set up a wallet from seed phrase and do a transaction - then how to import seed phrase into a wallet - if not-so-tech-savvy able to read your will and plan your funeral, they won't have a problem learning this
Notes on first half the day:
Giacomo points out why refunding sloppy fat fingers is epitome of centralization
Burnett on permissioned energy and sovereignty and maximizing miners in the wild
Brilliant moderator for this panel: Bitcoin Mechanic, given his recent article Are Mining Pools Becoming A Problem? asks questions on:
- ASIC fabrication and design
- trust in hardware
- fate of plebminers
- innovation for hardware for home
- #'s needed for decentralization
- future of pools
- reality of "quick and easy" heat repurposing
Panelists Thomas Templeton at Block, Skot9000 BitAxe, Zach Bomsta (Unbound Networks)
How are miners feeling about getting under-mined (haha, nice pun) by pools that give back the fat finger transactions?
Gate keeping and interception of fees seems 😤for the miner.
Does protocol care if this fair/not fair? Pay more attentions fat finger freaks.
Why not mine with pools that make payout at coinbase/transaction?
Fantastic! post! Thanks for doing this - takes effort to practically move to sovereign way of being - many thanks to the GrapheneOS AND Start0S teams
To be a real adopter you MUST understand custody and the trade offs for using anything other than your own custodial solution - onboarding folks to WOS might have been a good first step for noobs, but you are doing them a disservice by not explaining the risks that come with a non-sovereign solution
This Alby + Zaprite integration seems pritty slick for merchant using LN and need to send invoices and track payments as is the LNBits connection - more connections to come.
Lots of folks emerging from the past with "so, howz your Bitcoin Kate" and have the false assumption I must have hot tips how to invest....
I respond with...What is money? and send them to 21lessons.com and tell them to get back to me once they have read it.
If I experience too much friction I use this:
“If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.”
― Satoshi Nakamoto
I'm not here to fucking cajole you into why it makes sense - show some proof of work and do your own due diligence.
There are many folks that have a freedom orientation that need help and welcome it - I'm here for you!
so nice of that poor un-named guy from the audience to help you out:) This was so good! Can't wait for my 2023 walkie-talkie
Stack sats with the following:
-
Add @getalby address to youtube profile - address in description triggers LNURL https://youtu.be/4lX7fITAIrM?si=jKA8bA65TZw_xOiZ
-
Set up LNBits and use #tipjar extension https://github.com/lnbits/tipjar
Or just straight up ask if Bitcoin is form of payment this is how credit card 💳 companies (that are not MC and V) used to advertise how to penetrate the cc market - do you accept_______?
Give example of other merchants accepting nearby if possible
Normalize acceptance!
- Diminished client care overall and prob attributable to service staff not being armed with skills to field objections - customers want value 4 value - or in dirty fiat terms…want their dollars to go further
- Above average service was from a mechanic in small rural town that has a commitment to client care and understands that is what sets him apart and chosen - price is a secondary consideration from his customers
- The warm welcome is great opening- @k00b especially😊- for onboarding newcomers, ask people “what brings you here” ? useful ask for an organization to understand why users are here
Type of Shop
Farmer selling veggies at farm gate and some online sales (honey, crop shares sold in advance )
onboarding process
Introduced 21Lessons.com
Learned diff btwn on-chain and LN
Set up Wallet of Satoshi and used point of sale for first IRL purchase
what tools / apps using or plan to use
BTCPayserver to be implemented for online sales transactions - on-chain payment ok but need to understand about hosting own node or if better to use LSP like voltage
Sparrow for coin control and moving to cold storage vault
how you consider bitcoin in your accounting
working on this - not clear as to how to integrate into bookkeeping (Zaprite looking promising) or how to hold on balance sheet
what I could use help with
payments are sitting in WOS and plan is needed to move to HODL storage
Very open to hearing opinions that emphasize self sovereignty and maintaining good digital hygiene:)
Excellent links to your related content ! Anyone working with merchants must read!
I am committed to serving freedom oriented merchants first and want to ensure that I share best of what is known to support with good tools that maximize sovereign stacking - I'm glad you are here and will start adding specific scenarios at your post Calling for merchants: please share your BTC onboarding story on SN: #248871
