Hot has become hyper annoying to me. I am constantly seeing posts from last year in it.
I use miniflux to aggregate my feeds, and then use the built-in matrix integration to push them to a matrix channel
I've tried freshrss and ttrss and the overhead was annoying to manage.
With miniflux and matrix I don't need to think about another client or managing much resources.
I've got a few now!
Some ultras and just added a hex to the bunch.
It has been a great learning experience. I am running my own ckpool with bitcoind and mining away :)
Nostr as a protocol is so extensible and embeddable that I think a lot of new use cases will pop up. It will be way more than twice its size.
Debian - The Universal Operating System
I have been a devout Debian user for over a decade now.
The community is fantastic, the philosophy is brilliant, and the OS is wonderful.
Stardew Valley is one of, if not my favorite games of all time. It is a testament to the ideas presented in the game itself, community and support.
Honestly just run your own solo ck pool. It is straightforward. Just test your setup on testnet for a few days and if you mine a block or two you should be good to go.
Its a great learning experience, and you get to own the whole stack.
Also you get to set your own bitsig.
My primary media consumption is horror so I am excited for this post!
Late Night with the Devil got me to watch Ghostwatch (1992) and that was fantastic. The mockumentary style of Ghostwatch also got me to watch Phoenix Forgotten (2017) and The Phoenix Incident (2015), both of which are decent. I love horror movies so I think my grading curve is a bit extreme.
For recent movies:
Abigail (2024) was way more fun than I expected.
The First Omen (2024) was also way better than I anticipated.
Tarot (2024) was no bueno.
I think Talk to Me (2023) is probably the best horror movie to come out in a long while if you haven't already seen it.
PS5 on the TV for exclusives.
PC for various multiplayer games with friends. Steam deck for my single player games.
I haven't touched my switch since I got the steam deck.
I also have a raspberry pi that has emulators hooked up with my sinden light guns to play light gun games.
At this point I think unless Nintendo really wows me, or Sony gets it together, there is no reason to have a console anymore.
This new gen has been a dud and PC+Steam deck seems like the perfect combo.
The Witcher series as a whole. I tried all three, putting at least 5-6 hours into each and just couldn't stick with it.
This soundtrack has followed me through my life. I can pinpoint the feelings of playing this game over the decades on different consoles.
From the original on the PS2 as a kid, to emulating it on a PS Vita in college, to reliving it again as an adult with the remakes.
What an absolutely wonderful soundtrack. Sad they couldn't get all the licensing to bring the entire thing back for the remakes, but even the new tracks on it are bops.
Superman, You, Subculture, No Cigar, Cyclone, When Worlds Collide, Guerilla Radio
All of them are still on my permanent rotation.
This game really did expose me to a variety of genres and I am so appreciative for it.
There is one other book, that can teach you everything you need to know about life... it's The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, but that's not enough anymore.
Kurt Vonnegut (in Slaughterhouse-Five)
Even over 100 years later I think Dostoyevsky is unmatched in his understanding of both individual and group thought.
If you get through Crime and Punishment, I would highly recommend his other books as well. Brothers Karamazov being what I would consider to be his most profound work, but also The Gamber, The Idiot, and Notes from the Underground!
Folklore (PS3)
It came out with the release of the PS3 and seems to have been forgotten since. I guess along with that MGS4, which is also stuck on the PS3.
One thing I appreciate with the redesign is I am less likely to accidentally zap comments when swiping back to the territory from a thread.
The Bitaxe Hex is going through finalization so should be done soon. ~2Th at 12V for about $300 (guessing a bit here from the last conversations I've read).
The bitaxe is also a great way to get into mining software as well. I've been running my own ckpool + bitcoind with my half dozen bitaxe ultras.
It also got me using testnet since I had to make sure my pool was configured properly.
I have been running lightning since the start, but the bitaxe finally made mining accessible to the plebs who don't have the capital to run a s19 etc.
Power is also a concern. I can be part of the mining network, as small as it may be, without ConEdison obliterating my wallet.
All in all, I feel like the utility of the bitaxe fundamentally undermines the label of 'trinket miner'.
