There is one other book, that can teach you everything you need to know about life... it's The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, but that's not enough anymore.

Even over 100 years later I think Dostoyevsky is unmatched in his understanding of both individual and group thought.
If you get through Crime and Punishment, I would highly recommend his other books as well. Brothers Karamazov being what I would consider to be his most profound work, but also The Gamber, The Idiot, and Notes from the Underground!
