Sounds like you're on the right path. :)
Keep stacking & keep learning!
Your good friend DarthCoin has made one for you! XD

Sounds good. You really should be building your own Bitcoin node stack if you want to be truly self-sovereign.
I can't comment on what the mods are doing (I'm not a mod). But I also have no impressions that Reddit is a democracy. My guess is they're trying to prevent the sea of opinion from drowning out technical conversation.
But if you had evidence of otherwise - if someone, above personal preference/opinions had any legitimate rebuttal to the concerns that your (potential) customers are voicing, id love to hear it?
From what I've read, these are two main areas of contention for your products in particular:
-
Shitcoin support - I know you have Bitcoin only firmware but the concern is that this misleads newcomers into believing that Shitcoins are on equal standing. Bitcoiners are concerned because as a commercial product supplier you are in a position of influence and are leading them down a path towards pyramid schemes, rug-pulls and scams and ultimately - this affects adoption because those new to the space may not be able to disassociate the two. Above profits - what excusable reason would there be for doing this? Saying "its what the customers desire" isn't really a valid reason - Some people want to take life endangering drugs too - doesn't mean you have to be the dealer.
-
Claims that USB connectivity gives similar security benefits to an airgapped solution - This is obviously a little more nuanced but clearly using a USB connection adds a potential attack vector. When ranking self custody solutions, we make the obvious statement that, no - it does not.
Look, I understand if you've chosen your path and don't want to build a solution that a more serious Bitcoin owner would want. I mean you're a business and if its not profitable enough due to demand, that's fine. But you must understand that when newcomers enter to the space, it wont be recommended by anyone who sees these as potential attack vectors on the network, when there are solutions that make these considerations.
If you are a Bitcoiner you probably understand why we prefer verifiability over trust. Our ethos pushes us to protect the sovereignty through property rights that Bitcoin enables, above all else. This is why we do not agree with heading down the path that prioritises complacency and convenience, even if this may improve "adoption" - we believe the tradeoff is too great. Sovereignty over your wealth is an all or nothing thing, You either have it, or you don't.
Lastly I just want to point out that I don't think anyone in the space wants a company that supports Bitcoin to fail. We just want you to do better. We want to make sure you don't end up inadvertently becoming adversarial to the Network and to the individuals who use your products by making concessions in security, verifiability or morality for the sake of profits.
This is rather misleading.
What you're seeing as an attack on your company is Bitcoiners providing transparent information about the HW wallet solutions available to us. I have yet to see anything that's been said about any of the commercial offerings that wasn't fact above personal preference and opinion.
This is your customer base. You should be taking criticisms on board. Not trying to change the rhetoric to fit your product.
As if this wasn't always faketoshi's end game.
Try to gain legitimacy through legal means to blindside his followers, so he can hard fork and rest control over Satoshi's treasure on his shitcoin network.
I think you should consider offering a filter for the level of custodianship - With a disclaimer for particular wallets (such as BW which is custodial by default - but can be used to in a self-custodial manner if set up appropriately).
I see you have open source listed, but I think just as importantly you should note which wallets are closed source as the ability to reproduce software is important for verifiability. https://walletscrutiny.com/ is a good reference for such.
Zeus wallet connects to your node, so not only is it self custody - but it provides tools to manage your node as well.
Fedimint has to be the most interesting edge case development for Bitcoin this halving.
As someone who advocates for sovereignty through self-custody of ones keys - I don't understand the resistance from much of the Bitcoin space, seems ignorant to me.
This is not being promoted as a preferable solution to self custody - rather an alternate custody option with far greater improvements over the easily captured centralised 3rd party exchanges where the incentives of those in control do not align with those who use them - which unfortunately is a large portion of the Bitcoin community.
Fact of the matter is, you probably already include a layer of trust (on a personal level at least) in your self-custody/backup solution already.
I could see Fediment's being a useful resource for those who self-custody as a way to move Bitcoin privately, but predominantly as a means to enable safer access to Bitcoin and Bitcoin based fiduciary for the late majority.
I'm a relatively new Bitcoiner - School of 2021.
Deploying my own BTC/LN node.
Increasing my literacy around Bitcoin which enables far more concise, open discussions with the community, friends & family around all the facets of Bitcoin (and money in general).
Through my limited capacity - try to incorporate it into my everyday life. Moved to using fountain instead of Spotify for my daily podcast listening's on the drive to/from work. Read articles via Carrot or Stacker.News etc etc.
This might be taboo to say here but I actively try to earn any "crypto" I can through various means, which I convert to LN Sats to either add to my stack or distribute to people when the opportunity arrives to onboard someone. Its like my own personal speculative attack on crypto lol.
I'm still at the beginning of my Bitcoin journey, but the more I learn and discover - the more I realise that Bitcoin will be my once in a lifetime opportunity to make a positive impact on the world, both on a personal level and for the greater good of humanity.
Really cool initiative!
Whilst its always great to have multiple node options - are you concerned about the potential centralising pressure that cloud-based nodes built on centralised clusters like AWS add to the network?
Can vouch for https://widgets.twentyuno.net/.
Its a great little widget builder that supports webLN. Very easy to customise and implement!
This.
I do believe that our current, broken monetary system which encourages spending for spending's sake as a perpetual requirement to prop up the increasingly debt fuelled economy has shifted our time horizon to focus on the short term and contributes to both the creation and purchasing of cheap, poor quality goods manufactured with sub-par materials with little to no consideration for their longevity and the long-term impact of such on the environment.
It doesn't necessarily mean that plastic is a bad product, it has just become greatly misused. Single use plastic packaging is a great example. Its so cheap to produce now compared to alternatives because the manufacturing process has become streamlined under the conditions of a short-term profit prioritising capitalistic economy.
Cliché to say - but Bitcoin helps fix this.
Personally, if wanting a Linux laptop for personal use I would be looking for a ThinkPad on the second hand market and install the flavour of choice.
You pay a premium for Linux Laptops from dedicated suppliers and generally the mainstream offerings are oriented towards business professionals, so you pay through the nose for a level of support you may not require.
I believe this was a purposeful decision by the judge.
A “win” for £1 ensures that CSW can’t appeal, and continue to drag Peter through the courts which would bring him further financial hardship.
This ends the case and now the ball is in Peter’s court - as he could potentially counter-sue to recoup his legal costs if he desired.
