Beyond the federal money printer, health insurance is the most fiat industry in our country. The top 5 health insurers have more revenue than the federal defense budget. Its full of rent seekers that suck the life out of the doctor patient relationship leading to higher costs and poor outcomes.
Lets change it, through a decentralized model with a path to bitcoin circularity.

What are the benefits to this over traditional insurance.
reply
I wonder how limited it makes your doctors?
reply
I’ve listened to you on a few podcasts, keep up the great work!
I have a family of four with young kids. Do you have many families in Crowd Health? How has their experience been?
reply
Do you provide insurance everywhere?
reply
We are not insurance (we are an alternative to insurance) but yes, we are available anywhere in the US or for people who are international that can get a US bank account.
reply
Thanks for clarifying. So, I can't get benefit from it. I'm from India.
reply
If you are interested, please let us know here: https://form.jotform.com/241976583335063 We'll put you on our international waitlist and let you know when it is available
reply
Thanks. I've a better idea. Why don't you please drop in a post or a comment here when available for every place? There are many Stackers from other than US as well.

You are targetting bitcoiners but require them to have a US bank account?? lololol
reply
All this fuzz with "crowdhealth" is another scam that many influencers are pushing into bitcoiners...
If you take care of yourself with natural remedies and NEVER have to go to a so called "doctor", you do not need anything else.
If you fall from a cliff and break your legs, that's it, you die, this is life. Face it, don't be a pussy.

That last line might be the funniest thing I’ve read on this website! Bravo

it would be a shame if Darth had an unfortunate 'accident'

Natural remedies? Like? I’m curious

Yoga.
reply
What type? Postural-Physical, meditation, breathing? Never get into it
reply
yoga is great but the people who practice it are insufferable vegans

plants

Hey, everybody. Andy here. Would love to answer questions yall have.

I feel any kind of health insurance nowadays is extremely antiquated in their ways. I'm mostly nomadic and I find the international insurance I have completely useless. Its only useful for the asymmetrical risk of some accident where the cost of putting me back together will be very high. It is completely useless for any kind of preventative health since you need to find a GP and then the GP needs to prescribe that for the insurance to even consider your claim which is retarded.
Every year it comes around I'm thinking of cancelling it, maybe this is the year. (I dont qualify for crowdhealth given the US nature of it)

I plan on joining when I’m out of debt! Haha

What's the biggest benefit that customers of crowdhealth get relative to normal health insurers?

How much time does the average crowdhealth member spend managing their healthcare expenses in the app?
While normal health insurance is expensive, my biggest complaint with it is that it requires tons of admin on my side (finding doctors, paying bills, trying determine if the insurer is going to pay the bill I was sent, etc). I'm curious if crowdhealth has improved on that or just the financial side.
reply
Very little time on a monthly basis. When you have a health event you submit them through the app. You can see the status of your bills in the app if you want to. You can also access virtual care through the app. Most of your interaction with the app is voluntary.
reply
Is this even possible? Unless people become more healthy, l dont know if this would really work. Even countries with UHC strugfle with people bogging down the system.
reply
There are two pieces to this. Utilization and price. We are working on both but primarily on price. Right now our members are getting 50% better prices than United Healthcare on large bills.
reply
As far as utilization goes, we will be giving discounts for people who are healthy. That not only rewards those who are health but also incentivizes others to get healthy. Additionally, we do quarterly specials that show people the important biomarkers of health. For example, we are doing a DEXA scan special in Q1. That enables people to see their visceral fat levels which is super important to reduce chronic diseases
reply
Interesting. So we will discriminate against people that arent healthy?
reply
Auto insurance favors good drivers and penalizes reckless drivers
reply
We will reward those who are healthy.
reply
Discrimination is a feature not a bug
otherwise unhealthy people are "bogging down the systsem"

Who are some big name people/health influencers you'd love to see brought into the Crowdhealth fold?
Seems like it's such an amazing fit for so many people's brands
reply
We already have Jimmy Song, Robert Breedlove, Natalie Brunnell, Marty Bent, Saifedean, and a bunch of others on the BTC side. They are all active customers with CrowdHealth. As far as the health and fitness folks I'd love to get Shawn Baker on as a customer. I've done his show twice but haven't gotten him over to Crowd yet.
reply
Let me just say that I'm a very happy member. Andy does not pay for any endorsement from me and despite being good friends with Andy, I joined because it was an economically rational decision.
I used to work in health care billing (athenaHealth before it went public) and my wife used to be in the medical field, so I know more than most about what a complete disaster the whole field of health insurance is. It's a robber's den of regulatory capture and rent-seeking and I couldn't be happier that CrowdHealth exists.
Also, if they don't ask for the money you put into your health account every month, they send it back! I've never had a health insurance company do that. And now that they have Fold integration, you can convert that straight to Bitcoin. It's a wonderful service and I truly believe it's better for your health.
reply
How do you plan to process the claims without Bitcoin accepting hospitals?
reply
The BTC will need to be converted to $ prior to payment. However, we are building a group of hospitals/doctors who are accepting/willing to accept bitcoin. We have hundreds right now and as we have demand for the acceptance of btc, it will grow.
reply
Will crowdhealth while clearing the claim directly pays to any fiat accepting hospitals as of now?
reply
Not sure I understand the question. Typically what happens is that our members are funded and they pay the hospital directly. We don't pay hospitals directly given our decentralized model. Not sure if that answers the question.
reply
Thanks. I got the answer I was looking for.
As you mentioned that you've doctors and hospitals willing to accept Bitcoin, do you make this data public somewhere?
reply
Not yet. If we have a bitcoiner in CrowdHealth and they are looking for a btc doctor, we will either give them the one we know of in their city or we will go find one.
reply
Okay. Thanks.
There's one more by the name crowdhealth.org.
Ron Paul, retired OB/GYN
Rand Paul, opthamology

Revenue =/= profit A company that insures millions of people will have a lot of revenue.
But yeah, the incentives are wrong and a transparent system that doesn’t subvert patient interests to meet shareholder needs would be best.
reply
Absolutely. Just shows you how much is tied up in the 4 largest insurers. It also shows a consolidation of power.
reply
Does Crowdhealth plan on capitalizing on all of the MAHA hype that's been arising recently? Seems like the same people getting excited about that are very primed to ditch health insurance and go the crowdhealth route 👀
reply
Absolutely. We had an awesome end of year. I think that had to do a lot with the MAHA movement. We know some of the people that are leading that movement and can hopefully make some inroads there.
reply
What other groups are there you can join besides Bitcoiners and Carnivores?
Which other groups would you like to see join in the future?
reply
Bitcoiners and Carnivores are our only separate groups right now. We will probably add international at some point in 2025 or 2026. A CrossFit group will be open in 2025
reply
How are the groups going to work? And how do I join one? I'm currently a very new member of CrowdHealth.
Technically I could join both the Bitcoin and Carnivore group...would have to see which is cheaper!
reply
Reach out to your Care Advocate hey@joincrowdhealth.com and they will give you the details. My advice is to join the Bitcoin crowd. You get Fold+ along with that and you'll be able to get some of the discounts associated with Carnivore that we will be announcing soon.
reply
Thanks everyone for joining! Have a great day.👋🏻
