"Pay to Post. Pay for another's attention. Pay to capture another's attention... it reduces spam and makes people think 'hey is it worth it if I post right now?"
That was a comment made by @028559d218 on one of my last post on Stacker News. The last phrase: " hey is it worth it if I post right now?" made me think of something I've been mulling over.
IS COMMENT PROFITABILITY PREFERABLE OR ETHICS OF POSTING?
This question has been on my mind since I started on SN. In principle, the free comments (5) that the platform gives to start seem to me to be the fairest I've seen, in any case, to earn SATs with a comment it must be well crafted and intelligent. But once we have already achieved some SATs, it is more ethical to make contributing posts than intelligent comments.
Why I use the expression "making posts is more ethical" because when we publish, it entails hard work, unless it is mediocre, and a greater expense is needed, so the possible profit is reduced.
Comments are economically more profitable, they cost 1 SATs and when someone zaps you with only 5 SATs you have already earned 4 times the investment (and in SN the Zaps are almost always 10 or more SATs), a post is more expensive and achieving a similar profit is more difficult.
I am not saying that commenting is bad, I even really enjoy when my posts have comments because it caught attention, interested the community, I contributed something useful and many times I benefit greatly from those comments. What I mean is that when we make posts, there are some here that when you check their profile you wonder where they get the time and knowledge to publish, that enriches the community.
Sometimes some of us don't know what to post about because we are not experienced or because we have no idea or because many topics have already been discussed and we think that what we are going to post has already been discussed. Maybe if the owners of territories proposed topics for publication each week that would help.
What I want to reflect on is that we should not use the work of others to seek personal benefit, it seems selfish to me. Thank you for existing Stacker News and you community of Bitcoiners.
