Your site Seems flawless. That's cool. It also seems an app ready site. Do you intend to create an app for AirBTC?
reply

Yes, creating an app is high on our list of future developments!
reply
Thanks for the response.

How do you gonna make AirBTC popular in India? Any plans?
reply
44 sats \ 1 reply \ @Airbtc OP 4h
We have had minimal traction in India. We are open to business from anywhere and would love more listings from India. The world is large, though, and we are still small. At this stage, we do not have any India-specific plans yet, but we do have an ambassador program where you can join up and get a 10% kickback from any listings you onboard.

Thanks for the information! Would surely try to find someone.

What's the most surprising benefit when using bitcoin for short term rentals?
reply
100 sats \ 0 replies \ @Airbtc OP 4h
The Bitcoin community is incredible. There are minimal problems with disorderly conduct, lying, "Karen-like" behavior, etc. I would say probably 10% of the issues that other platforms face.
reply
110 sats \ 1 reply \ @k00b 4h
What are your plans to bootstrap the double-sided market? AirBnB notoriously had a tricky time doing this. Are the things they did applicable to you all?
reply
33 sats \ 0 replies \ @Airbtc OP 4h
Airbnb already overcome most of the obstacles facing booking platforms. They were pioneers in this space, and all booking platforms operating today do so because of them.
That being said, we do have a unique business case and aim to use the power of Bitcoin the technology, and the bitcoin community at large to drive our success.

Do you also have plans for taxi rental like Uber? If yes, when do you think gonna accomplish it?
reply
33 sats \ 1 reply \ @Airbtc OP 4h
Not at the moment. Our plan for expansion is to include an insurance arm in the business, where hosts can pay a portion of their booking fee as insurance against damage. This could then grow as a business on its own. We are also looking to offer experiences in the future as part of our offering.
reply
Would the insurance fund just consist of paying claims in Bitcoin?
reply
Why did you choose the name AirBTC?
reply
110 sats \ 8 replies \ @Airbtc OP 4h
This name is self-explanatory, meaning that anyone who sees it should instantly know what our company does. There are not a lot of businesses that can say that. Plus it has BTC in the name which is awesome:)
reply
self-explanatory, How does 'Air' explain property rental service?
reply
33 sats \ 6 replies \ @Airbtc OP 3h
This is not a conductive comment made in good faith. Go and troll somewhere else.
reply
Sorry, you felt that way. I didn't mean it. I really don't know how does it fit in. I know there's one more with the 'Air' prefix but I never had a chance to ask someone from them. If you still think it's trolling, good luck with your project. Keep doing the work.
reply
21 sats \ 4 replies \ @Airbtc OP 3h
Dude, the biggest property booking platform in the world is called "Airbnb."
reply
That I know but why they and now you using 'Air'? What does it stand for? Do you have some story or is there some acronym for 'Air' that I don't know?
reply
10 sats \ 2 replies \ @Airbtc OP 3h
Hahaha, no dude, they used the name because the idea was that someone could use an air mattress and rent out their living room as an extra room. We are using it because of the wordplay.
What's your faith in advertisement? Do you think AirBTC will ever run an advertisement campaign on TV or on a streaming video platform?
reply
74 sats \ 1 reply \ @Airbtc OP 4h
On traditional television, no. But we already have some plans to make video ads and post them on X and wherever possible.
For now, we are riding the wave of interest we are getting from the launch, but when that ends, regular marketing practices will need to take hold.
We are targeting Bitcoiners only for now, but in like 10 years everyone will be a Bitcoiner :)
reply
Amazing!

What's the greatest challenge you see for AirBTC going ahead?
reply
20 sats \ 0 replies \ @Airbtc OP 4h
Our client base is large but geographically very far apart. Getting enough listing on the site to have a place available when someone wants to book at a specific location is our biggest problem.
reply
How many rental listing you have now on AirBTC? How many listings do you think will have AirBTC in 5 years?
reply
121 sats \ 2 replies \ @Airbtc OP 4h
We have almost 200 listings from around the world right now. We aim to have 500 by the end of the year and 1000 by the end of Q1 2025. In 5 years, who knows? Airbnb has over a million.
reply
100 sats \ 1 reply \ @DarthCoin 4h
Good. I will try to bring some owners to list their properties and rentals there. I really like this initiative !

What is Bitcoin circular economy for you? Can you give a simple example how AirBTC could start a bitcoin circular economy?
reply
By Bitcoin circular economy, I mean "the Bitcoin circular economy." People transacting and exchanging goods and services using Bitcoin as a medium of exchange.
reply
100 sats \ 2 replies \ @Airbtc OP 4h
This could and should be an entirely separate circular economy where Bitcoin flows round and round and NO fiat or rent seekers are present.
reply
Do you think the landlords from AirBTC are also paying for employees, cleaning, maintenance etc in BTC ? That will be an interesting circular economy in making.
reply
22 sats \ 0 replies \ @Airbtc OP 4h
I don't think the majority are. Their income from Airbtc would still be minimal compared to regular rentals. But every bit helps. Eventually, they all will pay everyone in btc.
reply
Site looks pretty good and has a surprising amount of listings so far. Nostr login and NWC would be a nice touch.

What's harder, finding people to list their properties on the site or finding consumers for the listings?
reply
140 sats \ 1 reply \ @Airbtc OP 4h
So far, both. Chicken and egg. But I have to say, the support from the Bitcoin community at large has been epic.

When you host your place on airbnb your house is insured to cover damages by the people renting from you. Do you have a system in place to handle that situation? If not, do you plan to? How would a dispute be handled by airbtc?

This was an attempt to access your web site via tor.
reply
0 sats \ 1 reply \ @Airbtc OP 3h
Hmmm, maybe you should try to access it via a standard browser? :)
reply
Most of my web browsing is using Firefox on Qubes OS with a Whonix gateway and much of my BTC transactions are done using TailsOS on a USB drive (thanks @DarthCoin). Both setups use tor for accessing the internet. It seems that many bitcoiners prefer online privacy, especially when transacting with their bitcoin, and therefore are using similar setups. Your current configuration forces people back out on the clearnet to access AirBTC's web site.

Best ways to maximise the benefits of Bitcoin in the new economy?
reply
100 sats \ 2 replies \ @Airbtc OP 3h
Get yourself on a Bitcoin standard and live on it. I have been living fully Bitcoin for almost three years now. I do have a personal fiat bank account, but I only sell Bitcoin and transfer to that as needed for the expenses that I can't pay in Bitcoin on a minimal basis.
The side effect of this is huge. You spend much less for starters, and you only spend on things you really need.
reply
you only spend on things you really need.

Not including Bitcoin stuff, what do you believe is the biggest problem with Airbnb that AirBTC can/will to fix? (Can be something that hasn't been added yet but is on the roadmap)
reply
100 sats \ 1 reply \ @Airbtc OP 4h
THE biggest, by far, are compliance and regulation. We dont want anything to do with that, and because we dont have a fiat bank account, anyone can list and anyone can book through us without your local rent seeker stopping you.
reply
Exactly that. The regulations and bullshit laws are only for fiat, not for Bitcoin. But once you touch fiat, they will eat you alive.

I think Allen Farrington is pretty smart. Probably the smartest millennial I know of. Then, Hoppe and Saifedean are up there in my opinion.
I never met any of them in real life, though.
When I read Mises, I get the feeling that he was on a totally different level of intellect than anyone alive today.
