As per the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, female labour force participation in India improved to 37% in 2022-23, from 32.8% in 2021-22. However, this was still much lower compared with the global average of over 50%.
These are great signs for Indian economy and for women empowerment. It's also worth noting that without a proper participation of women in workforce, India can not sustain its high growth rate.
However, this sudden spike in women employment doesn't show any improvements in wages for women. The wages in India remain much much lower than other major developing and all developed countries.
The inflation is more than 6.5% but the wages are seeing no or minimum hikes over the years. You won't believe when I tell you that more than 130k teachers in Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state, have been paid only Rs 10,000 ($120) per month for years now.
I can only verify that not more than 25% of all women in India are working in proper jobs. The rest of the data is coming out of those schemes under which women are employed for social services roles where they are paid even less than $100 a month but government considers them as employed.
ASHAs are considered volunteers and given a fixed incentive of Rs 2000 ($25) by the Indian government for their work across 34 states. Their additional compensation comes from the task-based earnings and remuneration they receive from the states where they live, varying from Rs 2000 to Rs 7000 ($85).
So, this makes me think how India's current government promises a sustained growth in a long run. This gaming with data isn't just limited to employment but is visible in everything.
What do you say?

If they make $120 a month and it is part time income, or a few hours a day that's one thing... But if they are the main breadwinner trying to live off that - that is deep below the poverty line. I'm curious how many of those women have husbands who generate the lions share of the income?
In the U.S. it is getting more even, but I believe men on average still take in the lions share of the income per family.

For women, it is like getting some extra income for family. Or, sometimes, this income may be the only source.
Though, it's helping erode below poverty line families but not very encouraging.

government data is often manipulated, in the internet sector, government agencies are openly involved in a massive financial fraud, slavery racket, robbing the data of online investors, workers, private citizens to make fake claims about their lazy greedy fraud employees since 2010.

I don't believe them and that's why I'm trying to tell what I actually see.

Women should join the workforce if they want because they want. Not because the state wants to generate economic growth.

Yes, you're absolutely right. Unfortunately, most of India is male dominated society and woman, otherwise worshipped in Hinduism, aren't allowed to work outside. This is also one cause of lower employment.
What state is actually doing here is just tipping women for their work in social services. There are 1 or 2 Aasha (involved in maintaining the health of pregnant women and nutrition for children) workers in every village but they are so highly underpaid that even a women working in a good city restaurant gets more in tips.

How much is the world average?
edit It would be important for women to have the same rights in India to further improve these figures.

I've seen this while writing it. Just forgot to link it here. Thanks for the link.

Women engineers with a good JEE rank from poorer communities in India are victims of resume robbery by liar top government employees who then use the robbed resume to get their lazy greedy fraud school dropout, housewife and other fraud girlfriends lucrative central government jobs.

The job should be done from the heart and not forcefully.

I think the information is very good... it is no secret to anyone that in countries like India with a high population rate, women are still considered less... or even not at all! They supposedly have jobs but to earn that amount or that low incentive... I would prefer not to work... the world has to wake up and there should be equality for everyone...

Women are actually worshipped here. It's just a matter of those who are still very conservative in their thoughts.
