Steinbeck is the goat
In human affairs of danger and delicacy successful conclusion is sharply limited by hurry. So often men trip by being in a rush. If one were properly to perform a difficult and subtle act, he should first inspect the end to be achieved and then, once he had accepted the end as desirable, he should forget it completely and concentrate solely on the means. By this method he would not be moved to false action by anxiety or hurry or fear. Very few people learn this.

posting articles from mises.org will not go anywhere on SN. SN stackers are only statists and gov agents that only want NgU and compliance... don't you get it?
Also all the "libertarian" movement is rigged. Libertarian means "I want small government", so that still means statist mindset.
You will never have any communist/socialist mindset listen to you because are totally brainwashed and do not comprehend not even a slight reducing of gov powers, not talking about eliminating at all the whole gov (thing that you still do not agree).
Your efforts are futile...

Probably not worth its own thread at the moment, but this is worth keeping an eye on:
The United States Department of Commerce is reportedly considering lawmakers' calls to make it harder for China to use the RISC-V instruction set architecture (ISA).
"While the benefits of open source collaboration on RISC-V promise to be significant, it can only be realized when contributors are working with the sole aim of improving the technology, and not aiding the geopolitical interests of the PRC," the representatives wrote in a November 2023 letter that called for creation of a "robust ecosystem for open source collaboration among the US and our allies while ensuring the PRC is unable to benefit from that work."
It's not clear what actions might or even could be taken. Their potential effectiveness is also debatable, as US tech bans haven't stopped China importing banned GPUs, while various actors have developed numerous evasion routes to bring banned tech into the Middle Kingdom.
As you can see here, Bitcoin Core for RISC-V architecture is now a regular part of the release schedule and I was considering it for my next node. If anyone is running one already, I'd be interested to hear how it's going.

Egon Schiele (1890 - 1918) "Hindering the Artist is a Crime: it is Murdering Life in the Bud"
I really admire this artist! His art makes you realize people are fundamentally the same around the world and throughout all time.
Schiele departed from prevailing conventions of portraiture and devoted himself to the unhibited exploration of his own identity through drawing. He set out in search of self knowledge in countless self-portraits, trying out noumerous roles and emotional states on his face and body. He thus put his fear and loneliness, his rage, driveness, arrogance and sexuality on full display in all of its facets, doing so in poses pathologized by society.

Good morning stacker
you realize that stackers are already here for several hours... we are already tired of how many (fictional) pushups we are doing, not waiting for you.
reply
I'm saying it from my perspective, it's morning for me so I say good morning. I know about time zones and I know it's noon, afternoon, evening, or night for others around the world.
Why should you or anyone be waiting for me? I'm merely posting this for accountability because I joined a challenge which I thought is fun. You don't have to agree with what I do and is completely free to shit on it or even use/waste your precious sats to downzap it. At the same time, I don't have to care about what you say. I am free to, and will do however many push ups till whatever fiat price, at the same time post on the Saloon everyday about it.
reply
I only downzap really annoying shitcoiners and idiots. I do not waste my downzap power on such low content. I think you still do not understand how downzap works.

So you don't give a shit about Bitcoin adoption... right.
reply
Of course I do and I respect everything you have done to promote adoption and all the guides. I just don’t understand why you feel a need to micromanage what other people are posting about. You aren’t the dictator of Bitcoin or SN. I get it if you are calling out shitcoiners or scammers but why do you care if we are posting about a push up challenge? Just ignore or mute me.
reply
No I do not mute you. You do not deserve (yet) that honor. I only want to point out the uselessness of these posts about pushups until 100k. Bitcoin doesn't give a shit about your pushups and also the price of 100k is meaningless.
I am just trying to make you a favor and show you the right path, nothing else... But yeah, you can ignore my advice...
reply
I don’t need you to show me a path. I am not a child. As I said I appreciate your guides but I don’t need advice on what to post on open forum.

Loan Shark

Today, a loan shark is a person who offers loans at extremely high interest rates, has strict terms of collection upon failure, and generally operates outside the law.
Although the origin of the word shark is uncertain, it appears the first use of the word was written in the 1560’s and referred to a “large voracious fish” or “predator”.
It is possible that the word shark came from the Old German word “Schorck”, a variant of “Schurke” meaning “scoundrel” or “villain”, which is likely to have derived from the Dutch word “Schurk”, meaning “predator”, “scoundrel” or “villain”.
The word shark, regardless of its origin, was used in reference to a “dishonest person who preys on others”, and by the 1880’s “loan shark” began to appear in the press.
Borrowing from “loan sharks” in the 1880’s was often considered one of the consequences of excessive alcohol consumption.
This was because when an unsuspecting victim or “small fish” became inebriated, they would be targeted by a “loan shark”, and made to agree to unfair and often criminal contracts of debt.

A Whale

Someone who has a habit of gambling and who consistently wagers large amounts of money, is often referred to as a “high roller”.
However, if they tend to lose more than they win, they are referred to as a “whale”.
To keep the whale happy, they often receive lavish “comps” from casinos to lure them back onto the gambling floors, such as free use of a private jet, limousine and use of the casino’s best suites.
When the whales “cash flow” eventually “dries up” and they are “drowning in debt” and need to “stay afloat”, the “loan shark” smells “blood in the water”.

makes sense for what I've seen with the loan shark business.
reply
Lending money to people on low incomes and/or in severe poverty is an interesting problem, one which hasn't been well solved. From micro-credit in the third world to pay-day loans in the West, even if it starts well you can reasonably expect controversy and to end up being smeared.
It's not something I would consider, but I do have some sympathy for those who, in good faith, try to deliver a good product in that sector.
