I was always a fan of the hardtops. 
I just felt their body lines looked a lot better. 
Some types looked like the jaguar e type. 
Softops always leak, they werent really designed to keep the water out. 
I know BMWs of the 80s only had a canvas top, one layer of canvas!

I like the hardtops in the winter and soft top in the summer. Softops tend to leak and fog up for me

not only at the brass connections...but between aluminium and steel. 
and under the battery trays OMG

for sure, and lots of corrosion at brass connections

Oh man, you understand my struggle. 
Especially with rust because they didnt undercoat them well!
