I went through the same here. This post relates to my experience and I suppose with most others when they are new. People need to understand one thing for sure, if bitcoin can serve the same purpose as most other imposters (i.e. other chains, tokens, layer 2s, NFTs blah blah), why do we need them and why should we think of them? Aren't all of them are chasing the same purpose without the same sovereign, democratic and revolutionary principles of Bitcoin?

I'm certainly glad that you stuck through your initial shock.

For me, you're ability to get through this, and reflect upon it, certainly shows you do have humility.

It's interesting to see that some strong bitcoin only proponents are, open to the idea that there could one day be a better currency than Bitcoin - without a lot of knowledge, bitcoin is less than private. However, they're well aware that Bitcoin is the best that we've got and it's unlikely that it'll ever be bettered.

In response to you being initially schooled - it's understandable but also a difficult one.

I feel that most will have the motivation to sway you away from being hurt and drifting towards 'altcoins' a future of regret. In the impersonal online world it's easier and quicker to post a rough and ready response.

Their approach may be far from subtle - perhaps when used in combination with a character that epitomizes rough and ready treatment, perhaps it can be taken with a pinch of salt.

But sometimes there's no time for subtlety.

You'll obviously remember me mentioning Aesop's tale of The North Wind vs The Sun, you'll know that's one of my favorite tales.

I feel these pearls of wisdom need to be employed wisely, in the right occasion though.

For instance, would this advice be helpful if the tale involved a person teetering in a fog at the edge of a cliff?

If the goal is to save them a gently, gently approach wouldn't be appropriate: a more immediate response might be better.

However, I'd imagine that the tale was written for people who need to learn a deep lesson about subtlety.

Responding with appropriate force, can be more difficult though. One needs a certain amount of benevolence in the heart.

Clarity is important. Anger and hatred doesn't produce clarity, it surely only can impair the vision.

I'm glad you've stuck around - and you've proved you have the humility too.

Best be easy on entertaining the thought of having bitcoin students though, even in jest.

One thing I like about posting here is the knowledge that people mainly use critical thinking skills.

As a teacher yourself you'll know of teachers who've tried to fake it till they make it - or been narcissistic and had the pack forensically dissect them and it's the teacher who learns the lesson.

I guess this brings us back to humility and poor communication again - and both can be quite absent when online.

Although I'd like to carry on, my health is worse than normal today so I'm gonna have to rest.

But keep on being a teacher - be the best you can and keep that other circular economy alive - that of learning (as well as sharing) Bitcoin wisdom. 🧡
