Thanks for the opportunity to crystallise my thoughts.
I think the proverb “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. To illustrate this, let me share that my work involves teaching children with dyslexia in a small group setting. However, I may not always know the best thing to do to enhance and accelerate their learning. So I decided just to do one small thing every day. Last week, I posted in the Orton Gillingham moodle platform about how much I should focus on getting students to spell all 220 words from the Dolch list.
Today, I received a reply that not all 220 words are phonetically irregular. I can just focus on those phonetically irregular ones first. Other sight words can be blended by my students, one phoneme at a time, when I teach them decoding and blending. I also printed out a copy of the phonetically irregular sight words.
Tomorrow’s step involves me laminating that list and letting my colleagues know about what I have learnt. I will also test my students the first word on this list: the.
One step at a time!

Man, this is so insightful, and thanks for sharing the details of your approach in such delicate situation. I believe it could apply to any goal we set with good intentions. Your intentions have a good will. I'm pretty sure you'll get to the results you are aiming faster than you think. Stay focus and it will come!
One step at a time 💪 Keep us posted and looking forward to hearing some good news on the progress of the children.

Life has its up and down regarding what you decide to do or not.
If you have an or severals addictions, with the time it gets worst and worst to do, to act.
In this scenario it s not easy to keep motivation clear because of the addictions (i mean what is driving you to act/do, it is the addiction or the act). And the answer is, the addiction drives you to act !!!
Some years ago, i discovered Spirituality that droves me to meditation and then yoga. It s has been a long process, and i m still in , but it helps me to quit my addictions. By doing that, i rediscovered and i m still rediscovering clearity, what drives me really,... It gives me strenght just to do without looking for motiviation...
I m still in this journey and happy to be in and will do everything to follow it

Namaste, and thanks for sharing your thoughts. I never expected this question to trigger a so deep conversations here, am so glad you're all taking the opportunity to introspect and check your own processes.
Addictions, from my experience are driven by habits, good or bad they could be, the hardest part --once the neurological connection has solidified-- is to replace it with a new one. The long that habit has been in use, the harder it will be to defeat it and replace it with another one.
Maybe I'm simplifying it too much, I don't believe at all we are machines that can be fixed or adjusted. But sure is, we are in control and power to design and orchestrate the life we want to later achieve it only with patience, resilience and perseverance. One step at a time, as the good @cryotosensei just reminded us.

i believe more and more that meditation and yoga have something diferent compare to sport, art, reading ...
I believe meditation and yoga help you to rebuild, reconnect neurons, change the vibration of your cells and etc....
But my believes can not confirm for the moment as long as long i did not finish my learning path via meditation and yoga.
I hope soon, i will be able to write about it on Stacker.news

You'll be surprised how, even crocheting made a housewife the wiser person in the room, able to teach life lessons to others with a simplicity that no one could have expected. I asked her, where did she learn to speak like this, what was her school... her answer was just astonishingly unexpected.
Yoga and meditations are done with the aim to deeply connect with mind and body. Sport too, martial arts too... reading too, the greatest artist are the ones able to connect and express through their medium of choice, whatever it may be. It's all about embracing the flow!
One of the reason I created this territory is to let everyone know there's a creative potential on each one of us. If you allow me to use the term, democratise design. Creativity isn't a gift, it's something need to be cultivated to obtain certain results, like anything else in life.
Looking forward to reading your writings soon

Just happened to read in a Reader’s Digest that knitting engages our brain in focused activity, which by default helps us become more rested. Maybe it’s a sign from the universe to ask me to pick up knitting or crocheting haha
