it is autobiographical yes. Thank you for your comment as I ummed and aahed about posting it on here
I was in the chess club when I was in school so when I had kids I really enjoyed teaching them how to play... I still enjoy playing chess with them now, although they beat me most times! This both frustrates me and makes me proud!
My writers block has vanished! I posted Finally Free earlier today making myself feel slightly vulnerable, but it has spurred me on and I am already back with pen in hand!
Have a great day everyone! I am out till later so I shall catch up then :)
Time to spend time with the kiddo's!
definition of the word debate:
a generally formal and often public discussion of a topic, during which persuasive arguments from differing sides of an issue are presented. I do not need to hold reverence in order to hold a discussion. However, I am absolutely willing to close this conversation down if you are not comfortable talking to someone who has a differing opinion.
I would love a friendly debate on this...
You say that God has a way of working on a person's character and transforming our hearts to align with his and you bring up the commandment "Thou shalt not kill".
How many times in the bible did God break his own commandment?
To name but a few...
- the flood in which Noah created the arc
- the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah
- the plagues upon Egypt
People will say that we can't take into account the Old Testament as Jesus came, died on the cross and wiped out all the sins of the past - God kind of got a free pass here!
He expects us to follow rules that he cannot follow himself.
The way that he enforced these commandments was through fear of judgement, so any transformations he made to align with his view was not through love. We worship because we are afraid of the repercussions if we don't.
In answer to :
do you ONLY not murder cause you're commanded to? or DO YOU NOT WANT TO? there's your answer! you can ask your question with any commandment in the Bible. and your answer is basically simple. ONLY NO!
There are plenty of the commandments that I have broken and I am fine with. I have committed adultery, taken the lords name in vain, I don't remember the sabbath day, I have stolen in the past, and I have been jealous.
Focusing on one commandment such as "thou shalt not kill" will (most of the time) give you the response that you are looking for, therefore validating your answer here. However I am sure that a good portion of society may argue that committing adultery does not mean that they should be burned in hell for eternity.
This book is definitely now on my list! You really made me stop and think about a few things here!
I used to think that the more money I made, the richer I was, however in reality I was poorer! Not just financially, as I wasn't looking after the money that I made but also in life as I was working all hours to try and earn more and more. I followed the story that the harder you work the more you will make.
I now follow the adage, work smarter not harder and although not financially rich (yet) I am in fact rich in all other areas of my life!
This made me smile when I woke up this morning! (of course the first thing I did was check SN😂) Thank you!
We have a long weekend here in the UK and I also have the time off to spend with the kids, so I am going to look into these ideas starting with Book Creator as this will be something really fun to do with the younger two! (I will ask the teens to get involved and get looked at like I have grown a second head 😂)
I will let you know how it goes! Thank you again - that was a very kind thing to do and I much appreciate it!
Well, I wouldn't watch it again but it was OK. Although, I cannot remember the ending so it must've done its job 😂 My fiance does not appreciate the fact that unless the movie is fantastic then it will put me into a coma! I rate films based on how long I stay awake!
Things that will get them to sit down and read:
- Bribes such as a set fee per page 😂
- Motivation to beat their rival for the top spot in the class
- Watching Netflix with the subtitles on and reading along
- Doing it in 5 minute blocks staggered throughout the day
- Reading in the car seems to work too for some reason
- And... if it is something that they are going down a rabbit hole with!
When I look at that list they aren't doing too badly! I think I may have focused on the fact that I can't get them to read their school books!
I may have to go and see their teacher you know and have a word. Maybe if I went to the school library with them and helped them to pick a few books that would spark their interest and write a list for the teacher.
Honestly, the amount of out-of-the-box thinking I have to do with this child! They are the only one out of the four who isn't compliant in school and won't just "do" to please the teachers. (although number 4 is now showing signs of this too!)
Don't get me wrong, I am proud of the fact that they stand up for themselves, voice their opinion and have found a way to learn for themselves, but it would be a quieter life sometimes if I didn't have them coming home each day telling me I should expect a phone call😂
I will check out the link! And I bet your son was made up with you doing that with him! We may be able to expand our hearts for each child that we have, however it takes time to get into a new rhythm and keep all the plates juggling when we do!
my small donation didn't make any noticeable difference🙈 the more i stack though, the more i will be able to donate!
