when the sender sends to a virigin ln address, transparently offer options of un-collected funds:
a) offer the 'send back for 5%' fee
b) offer to donate to charity after 60 days
c) offer to custody for 1% per month
it kinda sounds like you're banking on that loss.. its underhand and it unnecessary
just charge the fee, and charge for return-mail transparently
Are you actually saying that acceptance of any centralised apps or non-FOSS projects would kill nostr?
If your read my post I'm saying nostr should not automatically shun non-FOSS and "centralised" efforts, or else we risk excluding real investment coming in to take it further
my perspective extends to the very beginning of the internet, where it was NOT the opensource that made internet go mainstream. I'm not saying we need an Internet Explorer of nostr to make it relevant, I think opensource now is ages ahead of what it was back then, but I can't help but wonder how the transition from indie to big time happens without serious money / structures. You may well be right that it is too early.
at the dawn of internet, many were saying "I'm on AOL or Compuserve" (centralised online hubs) - why do I need internet?
nostr isn't just a decentralised X, just like internet isn't decentralised AOL - it's a protocol that one day will be as obvious / invisible as http, everyone will take it for granted that all people, apps, services and ai models interact and (real) money flow through this magic substrate
right now, it's just bunch of idealistic indie devs who care more about protocol than about UX, and who definitely don't care to convince you
the question is if you want to witness it first hand and help it along or read about it in "wired" in 10 years time
my point was exactly to challenge the sacred cow of FOSS or fuck off
so you agree, i think..
to be clear, i love FOSS, because it fosters collaboration.. but i'm not a FOSS extremist, i think there's space for both in nostr
won't eradicate but may avert many a wandering soul from falling into the pitfalls of shitcoins..
speaking from personal experience, i had a detour of a couple of years purely because i was attracted by the technical features as to what they might make possible, and ended up spending (wasting) a lot of time before realising the higher level dynamics that are so fucked in that space
i tihnk there are many projects that start out with pure motives, attracted by the enabling tech, but end up tangled up in the shitcoinery
maybe drivechains would help, or maybe shitcoinery spirit would just infect them anyway
nostr clients <-> relays
veilid clients <-> nodes <-> nodes
eventually i think relays will become more and more like nodes in nostr, just makes sense
don't know if we need another protocol for this though
there's nothing new in decentralised space under the (centralised) sun since torrent p2p
top 3 off the top of my head:
- bounty / reward mechanism - at least promise rewards for best answers, beyond organic zaps
- filter by topic (or do you intend that we run one of these per tag, didn't quite get that part..)
- filter responses by social graph (ie follows/fofs) - else its just gonna get unruly (swampstr more like..)
i like the personal archive relay idea...
how about autoforwarding relays that figure out where to forward notes based on the social graph of the posters and threads?
very close indeed, thanx!
trying it out i realise that one of the key thing that's missing is the ability to filter it by your social graph or the like.. so much garbage
so i was wondering what others thing about that side of freedom - i wonder what different ways we'll end up curating our spheres, how do those not become echo chambers or maybe they must, is there a role tech (including ai) can play in helping people see the evil in their bigotry and hatred or does it only serve to amplify such things in tribes, the juxtaposition of good and evil in the freedom of choice..
or is this not a reasonable area to explore? do you already have a self-evident nugget of wisdom i SO clearly missed?
fiat -> more they print, more it pumps -> coverage -> pump -> coverage -> pump..
until fiat is proven to be what we all say it is
