More podcasts, obviously.

Yeah go to any Bitcoin meetup and it's a fucking sausage party. Literally I have never been to a Bitcoin meetup where it has been even close to equal.
Why do we alienate the women?
reply
wtf projection? bitcoin is totally open to anyone.
from the dawn of history males have lead in new fields
reply
I guess you've never been to any Bitcoin meetup
From NYC to Thailand Bitcoin meetups are super male dominant.
Maybe your answer is a clue to why... ahahah
reply
lmao you really aren't hanging out with your friends or doing anything better with your life rn Saturday night dude instead larp on sn dude bro that's sad
reply
We all hate in others what we hate in ourselves... Seems like you got a problem with friends on Saturday nights or something
Also you're on stackernews too at whatever time it is for you...
Why don't you go outside and breathe in some fresh air? Nature is calling and you're just getting baited by me and my posts living in your head rent free ahahahah
Maybe also go talk to some women. Seems like that incel vibe is a real pressure point for you
suck it though forreal
reply
lets go back to the initial point- you asked: Why do we alienate the women?
My statement was that "we" do not alienate women, they just aren't interested yet in the same way. Pioneering, exploring, and discovery have always been mostly male endeavors- especially in "tech" spaces.
Looking at your account tho, seems like you are just here to insult, troll, and attempt to upset people. Not sure why you enjoy that
reply
Whether intentional or not, it's crucial to recognize that systemic barriers have historically limited women's participation in numerous fields, not just tech. While interest plays a role, lack of representation can also be attributed to cultural expectations, limited access to opportunities, and overt or subtle biases. The Soviet Union was a primary example of when patriarchial cultural and educational norms were dropped, plenty of women succeeded massively in mathematics and sciences.
While there have certainly been many male pioneers, women have been involved in pioneering, exploring, and discovery in countless fields, including technology. Ada Lovelace, Grace Hopper, and Katherine Johnson are just a few examples of women who have made significant contributions. It's essential not to overlook their roles or diminish their achievements.
My aim is to foster meaningful discussions, challenge biases, and highlight diverse perspectives. It's not about trolling or upsetting anyone, but rather about broadening our understanding. I'd appreciate it if we could continue this discussion with mutual respect.

I don't think there's anything wrong with plethora podcasts. It provides a creative release to many people. To answer you though, Bitcoin doesn't need anything. WE need to put our egos down, and build. Podcasting is one way of building. Though I know many "podcasters" have huge egos
reply
more building, less ego. simple, good take.

More vendors accepting it

Adoption that isn't targeted at the Bitcoin community.
Most adoption projects have people who are already bitcoiners as their target demographic. It draws nobody in.
reply
can you share an example? Is it an adoption project if it's meant to be targeted at bitcoiners?
reply
I'm gunna get lynched for this comment.
Exit liquidity ;)
I joke, but it does need more users.
Edit for more context. For it to be more widely accepted as a payment method, it needs users who want to pay with it. Shops are less likely to use payment systems that their customers don't want/need/use. So bitcoin needs more users. Not just people hoarding sats moving it to cold storage and awaiting wife changing money. But people using it as freely as they would cash or contactless card payments.
I see some places that accept it as payment here and there and my thought on it is "ah that's cool, glad it's an option" not "I will use my BTC for this purchase". No one wants to be the guy who paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas.
reply
Spend & replace (instead of just hodling) would become a lot more popular if/when the "replace" part becomes easy and non-KYC by default.
reply
Agree. However KYC isn't awful. It's just intrusive and a barrier for speed. Once set up it hasn't been a problem for me buying on CEXs with KYC and transfering out to other wallets.
reply
That's called spending less than you earn ;-)

We need more Bitcoiners communicating what they need in their lives and networking with other Bitcoiners who make or do those things.
We need more networking!

Do we really need more of them though? I feel like the cult has grown large enough... Now it's kinda time for us to actually take the knoweldge we have and put it to use by serving people who don't give a shit about Bitcoin...
reply
We need to make it easier to explain and to use.
There is a good amount of people without any tech skills... Like grandparents...

im pretty excited about the BTC children's shows being produced. The "younger" we can tailor BTC education the easier it'll be to adopt
