So Austin has seen some bad weather this week with more expected today and tomorrow.
Apparently Waymo vehicles are designed to pull over wherever they are to avoid driving in bad weather. Some of them last night pulled over in unsafe areas.
Anyone know if self driving teslas do this as well? How do you fix this for self driving vehicles?

I heard a story from my coworker that they used teslas during snowstorms because they would self drive. This story is from years ago, though, so they might have changed how the self driving function works.

Is this just police picking on a new technology?
What if a human driver pulled over to the side of the road when it was no longer safe to drive. Would the police force you to move the car if it was "not safe" to do so?
Example: "Sir you need to keep driving, I don't care if there is a tornado"

I doubt it. I trust those things about as much as I trust gas station sushi. They'll lock up in the middle of intersections etc.

How do you fix this for self driving vehicles?
you give them a map where to not pull over

How bad was the weather? Would it have been unsafe for a human to drive?
I think they just need better detection for what is and isn't unsafe driving conditions, and better detection for what is and isn't an appropriate place to pull over (#904830). Easier said than done, I suppose.

It was a severe thunderstorm - violent wind, lots of rain, and a bit of hail. I wouldn't have driven in it.
