It's notable to me that the framing of this, and of the comments, is on bitcoin. I like btc, but is btc-centrism really the key to everything?
Maybe it is, I'm not sure. But the idea shouldn't be swallowed unexamined.
Good point. I mostly did that, because the original post and SNL discussion were about the known bitcoiners.
The issue is probably that SN is only going to appeal to bitcoiners, at least for the time being, and bitcoin is the thing we have in common. The odds of finding a random sports fan who's willing to try out our bitcoin powered site are just much less than the odds of finding sports fans amongst bitcoiners who are willing to check us out.
You might be right, though, and we should be examining other avenues.

If SN is not promoted as the "new BitcoinTalk forum" or replacement for "r/Bitcoin", will not go too far. It will just slowly die as any crap reddit.
We have so many things to learn about Bitcoin and yet people are wasting their time with all kind of crap stuff "non-bitcoin" related. It blows my mind sometimes seeing how people ignore this important thing.

That's largely how I think it should be promoted, too. I see the other territories (for now) as being where bitcoiners can discuss their other interests.
reply
the territories non-bitcoin are for when you do not have other news to discuss about Bitcoin, when stackers are bored. But how can you be bored about Bitcoin? The rabbit hole never ends.

As if you don't enjoy the occasional crime drama or sci-fi novel.
