I've shifted to Proton's services permanently from Tutanota recently. To my surprise, they have launched a self custodial Bitcoin only wallet too. Through one of the X users, I managed to get an invite. I found the wallet really good. They also did something like sending Bitcoin through emails too. They also align with the same thoughts as Stacker News has, like no shitcoins.
I saw that no one talked about this wallet here. You can read about it here: https://proton.me/blog/proton-wallet-launch.
Bitcoin via Email
One of the goals of Proton Wallet is to bring Bitcoin out of the domain of the tech-savvy and into the hands of anybody who wants to access the financial freedom it enables. This was done through conscious user experience and design choices that are apparent once you use the wallet for the first time.
Mathematically Guaranteed Ownership
Proton Wallet is a non-custodial wallet, and we utilize end-to-end encryption to ensure that we never have access to your Bitcoin, even when you are executing transactions via Proton Wallet. Unlike Bitcoin exchanges, Proton never pools your Bitcoin with the coins of other users in a centralized place where they could be accessible to a hacker. As a Proton Wallet user, your encryption keys, and consequently your Bitcoin, belong exclusively to you. And you’re not dependent on Proton in any way to keep access to your Bitcoin. Each wallet has a recovery seed phrase that’s only known to you (Proton never sees it). Even if Proton were to entirely disappear someday, you would still have access to the Bitcoin in your Proton wallet with your recovery phrase.
The only catch I found about this wallet is that it doesn't support Lightning for now.
Here are some images of the wallet:
I want to ask: can I go for it? If not, then why? As someone new to Bitcoin, I found Green Wallet and Electrum to be good, but now I think this wallet is also very promising. Should I use it?

this wallet is also very promising.
No is not. Why would I use an email account linked to a BTC wallet? Is kind of dumb (maybe interesting for dumb people).
Should I use it?
You have plenty of other apps, much better than this crap.

Great line

Thank you. I'll stick to Green Wallet and Electrum. I just thought to ask because Proton is trusted by everyone. I don’t know why they chose to link an email account with it they could have just kept it as a wallet. I only tried it out of curiosity.

because Proton is trusted by everyone.
Just because some people are using it for garbage /spam emails replacing gmail it doesn't mean it is "trusted". NOTHING is trusted on internet if you do not have 100% control of it. Run your own self hosted email server with your own domain and you really do not need any proton shit.
As a throw away email account is OK, but not for more....

By trust, I mean it is open source. I wouldn’t say it’s shit, though. Not everyone is tech savvy enough or can host their own domain. It's definitely still a lot better alternative than Gmail.

I'm glad they are working on a wallet but there are MUCH better options out there. Zeus, and Phoenix to name my two favorites.

Thanks, I too think there are better alternatives #860197 than this. I only tried it out of curiosity.

On my PC and on my mobile I use almost all the Proton applications, starting obviously with Proton Mail, and I am very satisfied so far... no complaints!
Now I think you should use it since it is implementing a new and innovative method and I think it will work 👌
