  1. I don't care about wealth and possessions.
  2. Sats in cold storage can do zero work to make the world a better place.
  3. Making a difference in the world is far more fulfilling than hoarding wealth.
  4. We don't get to take anything with us when we leave this body.
  5. I would rather see my children and theirs make a life for themselves and learn important life lessons.
  6. Out with citadels, in with community. When energy and ideas flow, community thrives.
  7. Moving and creating is living. I want to live.
  8. Who would want to retire? A man with no purpose is no man at all.
  9. Nothing feels better than giving
  10. What we give, comes back to us 10x
Let us grow from parasites. Let us lift each other up. Let us support community. Let us be rid of greed and instead be giving. Let the energy flow. Let us transmute and heal. Let us grow.
A good life is about love and connection. Hoarding wealth is scarcity mindset which is driven by fear. If we want a brighter future, we must let sats flow. And we are so so so early. So let us just be grateful. Clinging to what is "mine" is fiat mindset. Not needed where we are headed.
Let us, let it go.

I'm closer to you than I am to the isolationist rhetoric of many bitcoiners.
However, I have a few caveats and addendums:
  • "Hoarding" does enhance purchasing power for everyone else, so it does make the world a better place.
  • Saving now (while it's easy) for anticipated expenses is prudent.
  • Financially secure people make for a more stable society.
I do like the perspective, though. A better money will mean more exchange and more preserved value. Both of those things will mean it's easier to acquire what we need in the future than it is in the present.
reply
"Hoarding" does enhance purchasing power for everyone else, so it does make the world a better place.
That's a good point. Bitcoin is so amazing.
Saving now (while it's easy) for anticipated expenses is prudent.
This is may be "smart" but also scarce in mindset. I am an abundant fool. For the most part, I live day to day, and I am great with that. There is no reason to think I will not always have my needs met.
Financially secure people make for a more stable society.
I'm not sure what this means
reply
People who don't know how they're going to make ends meet tend to behave more rashly than those who's basic needs are taken care of.
Most people aren't as zen about providing for themselves as you. Maybe they should be, but they aren't.
My point is that we might see more kind, caring, cooperative, etc. behavior from these folks once they feel financially secure.
reply
Bitcoin does this whether we hold it or not. If we all knew deep in our hearts the truth of Bitcoin, which is that we will have more later than we have now, there wouldn't be anything to fear. And we could all be a little more zen about being present and giving it all away. For me, I don't have a lot of Bitcoin. But I know about it's truth. So there is no reason to fear the future. My real assets are my skills which are plentiful. I couldn't starve if I tried.
reply
I've spent most of my life spending the majority of my money on useless stuff that caused no real benefit to society. I'd rather stack sats and have the potential to do something down the road.
reply
What do you want to do in the future to benefit the world?
reply
Right now, the best I can do is to try to help other people from being slaves to a broken monetary system.
reply
That's a great thing to do. I think spreading the word is important. What would you do after saving up enough sats? And how many sats would you need to do it?
reply
i think saving money for future goals and things isn't the same as wealth hoarding
reply
That's true. I am working on stacking for the sake of making the ~alter_native lifetime. This is one bigger goal I have.
reply
Feel more or less the same way, when I joined SN and Nostr ; I have received some zaps and after many months, I had around 50K satcked then I wanted to learn how to setup a Nostr relay and invested 12K into that, and after that how to setup an Alby Hub lightning node and spent 35K and that was a great way to learn by practice, beside having a relay is helping Nostr, and same for the node. It is an exchange. There is not much growth by just stacking.
reply
The more energy flows around, the more we grow. This is the nature of everything. Transmuting energy into something better. Anything staying still is decaying.
reply
I totally agree. Living with purpose, sharing, and building community is more fulfilling than stacking sats. Letting go and giving back is the way to grow. Love this mindset!
reply
Retiring doesnt mean you dont have a purpose. That is only for people that believe their job is their identity. Its important to build a life outside of your work. Not saying that work life isnt important, but you need to invest in yourself.
reply
What does it mean to invest in yourself? I agree that retiring doesn't have to mean to quit building. But generally, people think re-tired as basically they are done building and they want to be lazy and consume.
reply
It means to put effort into building yourself. People that retire like that usually are people without a plan.
reply
I agree it is better to have a plan than a stockpile. What does building yourself mean for you?
reply
Finding hobbies and things that will challenge you.
reply
I'm ways doing those things. No need to wait.

"Hoarding" is a fiat term invented by politicians to justify taking from everybody, it used to be called savings. Saving hard money makes people free and gives them the power to spend on something meaningful whenever they feel like it instead of holding a melting ice cube. If you buy and live in your house, are you hoarding it?
reply
I also made this post that no not may people clicked on. ๐Ÿค”
reply
I am also grateful for sound money. And no, in owning a home, you are meeting your needs. I own property because I like to have a place to stay. Nothing wrong with owning a house. You use a house. How do you use sats in cold storage?
reply
When I am financially independent and I can afford food and housing without being a slave to my government, then I plan on giving as much as possible to my community through time, work, and donations.
reply
I love stacking and much as I do spending.
reply
Sounds like a great plan. I love it.
reply
Love it.
I don't look at stacking sats as hoarding wealth but instead preserving the fruits of your time and energy. I suppose if you were living like the amish do (nothing wrong with that) you could argue the fruits of your time and energy is quite literally the fruit on the table, the table itself, the house you and your friends likely built that surrounds you and thus you don't need a monetary instrument to preserve the fruits of your time and energy.
In modern society most of us don't live this way and rely on trading silly paper (digital now) notes for things we require for sustenance. The problem is those silly paper (digital) notes are highly manipulated and designed to slowly steal the fruits of your time and effort and bitcoin defends against that. A man should defend his most precious assets (time and energy).
Anyways, that's my perspective but I loved your post and take on it.
reply
Thank you. I know it is a bit over the top and idealistic. I do stack sats a bit at a time. Just wanted to offer a perspective.

I also made a less popular post about stacking. I wonder why so few looked at it In comparison ๐Ÿ‘‡

Have observed two types of people in life in terms of the relationship toward money. One saves and builds wealth- the other spends and have little savings...there are of course people in between too, but most visibly lean one way or the other. I have always been the former but often admired the live for the moment latter approach. But I cannot be the latter- I like to have liquid capital/savings because there are always many things I want to do and liquid capital makes it possible to do many things- creative things. Am not stacking now- I am slowly burning my stack. The stack has enabled me to 'retire' from any need to work for 'money' but i am nevertheless doing more creative and exciting things than ever before. The stack has enabled me to build a home offgrid and two other homes for family members. I am able to plant trees and develop a block of land that was abandoned by previous owners and its is fun and a lifetime dream come true. Do not feel any need to leave wealth to my children (they need to learn to earn and stack their own) but can help them now with support for education and just having time to spend with them and enjoy life with them. Definitely agree spending sats is important but its not easy to do directly- it is frustrating still having to convert to fiat before being able to pay for most things...so the more we support the few businesses who do accept sats the better. So I am a saver who is now hoping to spend most of my stack before I can't. The people who tend to live for the moment have less control over their financial lives than I do, they less often own their own home/land and often are forced to work when they might otherwise not want to. Bitcoin makes savings a rational and rewarding thing to do again - after decades of fiat debasement punishing savings and thrift. Fiat money has made a toxic culture of debt slavery - where many people are enslaved to paying rent on money that is literally created via debt. This makes people dependent and subject to the power of bankers- its lessens peoples self reliance and freedom. It drives a culture of waste, debt and consumption. I dont like it. Use Bitcoin how you want- if you choose not to save you are limiting your future options but then you might enjoy today more- if you are like me and want more control and freedom in the longer term and believe that probably you will still be alive in X number of years, plan for that future while also valuing everyday that leads to it.

This a great perspective and a balanced point of view. I realize the op was an idealistic view on living a pure abundant and present life. Which isn't quite possible in our less than ideal world. Thank you for your thoughtful comments.

Also, I suggest you fill out your bio at some point to tell stackers more about yourself. Maybe upload a profile pic. It helps people get to know you. Some of those points I can agree with. I disagree mostly that hodling is bad. It is a good thing and one of the main reasons to bitcoins success. The monero and litecoin community like to say that they are spenders. That they use their coins. And I would too if I had a sh$tcoin. You want to spend it as fast as possible.
Bitcoin is the best money we have. It makes perfect sense to save it. I do think you should use a portion of your stack to encourage more retail adoption though. Sending or receiving zaps is fun and it doesn't interfere with your cold storage. You can do both.
reply
I think Bitcoin is great for saving and for sending.

Wonderful list of reasons! My reason is simple that I'm otherwise earning fiat so much that I hardly require to hoard more wealth but I'm stacking to diversify. I don't debate whether Bitcoin will be as big as it's hailed. I'm starting to allocate a 20% of my savings into Bitcoin. I'm happy with that.

I do also enjoy stacking for some other reasons. #806724

This is, respectfully, one of the most BS nonsense communist communal wealth-confiscation mumbo-jumbo pieces of BS I have ever heard. Things in life are not 'free'.
Go to your local grocery store and tell the clerk (or the manager) the groceries should be 'free' for the purposes of 'community'. See what they say?
Or the car repair shop? Or the electronics shop? Or the clothes store? Or your mobile/cell phone provider?
Or your electricity/home utilities provider.
Being generous is one thing... but the world does NOT work that way. Show up at a restaurant, order a meal, then when you get the bill say 'oh but we need to be generous'. We have 'community' here 'there is no bill.'
'Love and connection is how I pay'. They'll say ???

Doesn't have to make sense for you to be my truth. I see your POV though. Also...

We save for the future to be able to consume. If we can't save...
Why work? Why expend effort? Why study? Why get up in the middle of the night (or any time) to pull a 'night shift' (for example) at work if we can't be rewarded with something scarce and desirable to have for future consumption?
Someone else will want that 'thing' in the future which we've earned... for which we can trade for goods and services. The alternative is... ???

OK, chatGPT:
Here are some counterarguments to the reasons listed for not stacking sats (Bitcoin):
  1. I don't care about wealth and possessions:
    • While personal fulfillment may not come directly from wealth, financial security can provide the freedom to pursue passions, support charitable causes, and make positive changes without being constrained by economic limitations.
  2. Sats in cold storage can do zero work to make the world a better place:
    • Bitcoin can support innovation in financial technology and enable financial inclusion for unbanked populations around the world. Additionally, you can use profits from Bitcoin investments to fund charitable causes.
  3. Making a difference in the world is far more fulfilling than hoarding wealth:
    • Having financial resources can enable you to make a bigger impact by allowing you to support organizations, initiatives, or movements that align with your values.
  4. We don't get to take anything with us when we leave this body:
    • While true, having wealth can help improve the quality of life for those you leave behind and ensure that values and commitments carry on through them.
  5. I would rather see my children and theirs make a life for themselves and learn important life lessons:
    • Teaching financial literacy, including the significance of investment and savings, can be part of those important life lessons. Stacking sats might serve as an opportunity to educate future generations on emerging financial trends.
  6. Out with citadels, in with community. When energy and ideas flow, community thrives:
    • Investing in Bitcoin does not preclude building community; rather, it can be a tool to financially empower communities by removing barriers to financial transactions and creating opportunities for self-reliance.
  7. Moving and creating is living. I want to live:
    • Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies can facilitate financial mobility, allowing you to work, move, and create globally without being restricted by traditional banking systems.
  8. Who would want to retire? A man with no purpose is no man at all:
    • Financial independence, potentially achieved through strategic investments like Bitcoin, can give you the flexibility to redefine retirement as a time to engage in purposeful activities rather than being tied to employment for financial survival.
  9. Nothing feels better than giving:
    • With increased wealth, gained strategic investments, you can have a larger capacity to give and support causes you believe in, enhancing the impact of your generosity.
  10. What we give, comes back to us x:
  • Investing strategically can amplify your ability to give by growing your resources, making it possible to create a virtuous cycle where your investments support your ability to contribute back to society many times over.
