I would have to say: give the Ueno Zoological Gardens a miss. The fact that we visited it at a time of vivid yellows and browns enhanced its charm. And it was awesome that the zoo personnel somehow ensured that the two pandas were fervently eating bamboo during my visit. (Must not have been easy to arrange that, given that pandas sleep for long hours.) However, it was troubling to see many animals trapped in their cages. Some of these animals only had one representative, so it must have been lonely for it to live its days without any company. Also, after waiting for 1.5 hours to view the pandas, we still had to wait for 15 mins to observe the hippos. There are better zoos than this, including the Singapore Zoological Gardens.

Did you know that Yatsushiro accounts for the majority of Japan’s igusa (soft rush) production? It is used to make comfy tatami mats.
Now you know!
reply
Nice tatami. It is really the tops for sleeping on for short naps. Also stays warm on cold days, not like wood floors. It is kind of expensive now-a-days, though.
reply
Hey friend @cryotosensei thanks for sharing Japón culture since I follow you I have learned a lot about it, what particular name tatami where does it originate or what does it mean?
reply
Interesting! I have a question for you.
Most Japanese homes have a separate shower and bathtub. Before going in to the tub, Take a shower and clean your body, face and hair. For a family, the members share the same hot water in the tub, so it's important to clean yourself to keep the water as clean as possible. This is from the article https://miraiclinical.com/blogs/japanese-culture-blog/japan-crate-bathing-culture
Is it true that people in the house share the same bathtub water? I know it's kind of weird to ask, but I couldn't resist..
reply
There is another fact: In Japan they separate the toilet from the shower and bath. Usually, there is a toilet in its own smallish space and the shower/bath in the next door space.
reply
Wow! This is getting more interesting.
Also, they have separate flip flop for toilet and separate flip flop for guests?
reply
No, one apartment or house will have one toilet that is not in the same room as the shower/bath. They are usually in side-by-side rooms. The guests use the same facilities as the people they are visiting. You only draw the bath once per day because the baths are usually up to your neck deep and take a lot of water to fill and gas to heat. BTW, they also use on-demand water heating.
reply
Absolutely true. Sometimes people have cooperative bathtubs for a small apartment complex. It is important to follow the custom of cleaning first, bath tub after. I was relegated to being the last person into the tub where I lived because “gaijin”. I didn’t care, because I knew the drill and I got to stay in the tub as long as I liked. It was one of the older style where the water is heated and circulated by convection continuously. I made the mistake, once and only once, of falling to sleep in the tub. I almost did not make it out of the tub. I was very well done.
reply
Falling asleep in the tub must be scary thank goodness you were okay. Thanks for confirming it and sharing your experience.
reply
@Rothbardian_fanatic has answered your questions very well. So I will share the bathtub at my parents-in-law’s house. Yes we share the same water
reply
This bathtub must be the most Modern and up-to-date. It doesn’t look deep enough for the time I was there. The ones that I went into were all neck deep, however, they were more like a cube where you couldn’t stretch your legs out.
reply
Yes! He helped a lot. Thanks for sharing :)

Because they are part of territories on SN, pinned posts should be called landmarks
or maybe landmarks can be something else, like widely zapped, highly valuable posts that each territory can elect to showcase as a "this is the kind of content were about here" "this post is our magnum opus" "this is representative of our culture and traditions here"

My students disappointed me this am when I noticed some of them weren't listening to each other's presentations, looking at their phones/computers instead. So, they got a pop quiz to report on what each other said. Many failed. Hope they learned. I hate it when they don't pay attention to each other. The lessen being pay the fuck attention to your peers.
reply
Oh, you are discovering the nature of the wild student, eh? Devices are the death of education! Looking up information on Google is not learning anything! Writing papers with AI is not creating anything! However, students will be students, yesterday, today and tomorrow.

The wild student. Notice how it yawns at 9:30, 11:00, and 1:00 like clockwork, is slow to arrive and quick to leave and has habit of disappearing for days at a time without an explanation.

reply
They are. Relying on Google and Ai is like showing up to build a house with nothing but a sledgehammer and dynamite. Great tools on their own - wrong job site.
reply
I don’t think they will ever get to the job site. If you cannot do your own thinking, I don’t know if you can be hired.

Hello, It's that time when I’m starting to say goodbye to some people, getting closer to some in a better way and to others in a worse way. Today was my last day of vocational subjects in technical school. The fact that the teacher who taught us these vocational subjects only started teaching us from the second year, not the first, still amazes me but also fills me with admiration, how someone can bond with others so quickly in just 3.5 years. I'm talking about a teacher who is exceptional in his field, who was able to engage us with his lessons, cover all the material, and still add something extra. Maybe I view this person exceptionally because he spent the most time with me from the group, preparing me for competitions, often working with me to design and test electronic circuits for younger classes for the following year. This is how I’ve been learning for these 4.5 years as an electronics technician, with only half a year left of general subjects. He often showed an unconventional approach and proved that there is a solution to every problem. For example, when Google and other services block access through an anti-spam bot to avoid alarm messages from the alarm system, so the school wouldn’t have to pay for a mail server, he made a small modification using one of the laptops for exercises. He’s just a person who teaches out of passion and is a wonderful person. However, I don't yet feel the full pain of losing lessons with him because he will be running extra classes for the exam next month, for which he won’t get a single penny since the local authorities refused to pay him, which is ridiculous. In my case, it’s also for the competition, but I can clearly say that I’m starting to feel this is the end of this stage, which makes me sad, especially since there are so few teachers nowadays who can engage, guide, and invest in teaching.
reply
You don’t always get to meet a teacher of this caliber. Cherish the memory of a great instructor and human.
reply
I’m happy to hear that you met a teacher who changed your life.
Good luck for the competition!

Thanks <3

Hey @BlokchainB and @grayruby, you have to agree on the territories names 🤠. I got the wrong territory for the second time, luckily I was still in time to change the whole post. In this case I couldn't edit the territory because I originally posted in ~Stacker_Stocks but wanted to post in ~Stacker_Sports. As ~Stacker_Sports is more expensive, I couldn't edit it. It would be nice if this issue could be solved (@k00b @ek).
reply
I tried to buy the stocks Territory but SN kept coming back with an error saying not available. So I think the first stocks territory was purchased out right?
So I came up with a new territory where stackers can discuss equities. I plan on reaching out to Warren Buffets team so they can do an AMA in the territory to increase revenue 😅
reply
😂 It's strange because the ~stocks territory exists but is archived, maybe it was @kr who imposed a rule so no one else could buy it! 🤠
reply
Yeah I’m not sure what happened. Never got any help or support with it either so I just created my own. Wasn’t trying to compete with kr but I wanted a place to post about stocks

I think so. SN data is recorded according to UTC time, but it is true that they use US CT as a reference. The leadearboard refers to the UTC 12->13 period.
