I think this is a strange topic to be studying, seeing as how humans cannot even prove to each other their own consciousness :)

Could it be that to sense it is to prove it.
Some science requires consciousness to sense consciousness, there are no machines that I know of that can do that.
Proving something can be done with contradiction, too.
