Time for another round of Meme Monday!

We have another 10,000 sats up for grabs for this week's winner.

The sats will be given to the stacker with the best Bitcoin meme as voted by the "top" filter on this thread at 10am CT tomorrow.

10,000 sats paid

I woke up in the middle of the night last night thinking about discussion on @dagny761's post here, and immediately made this. It's intentionally a bit hyperbolic, but begs for a conversation that I think we need to have. I've been feeling this tension a lot recently.

reply

I think defending one's self, family and property is quite different than perpetuating a monetary system via violence.

reply

Yeah defending yourself is not at all similar to invading a country and bombing the shit out of everyone

reply

Ultimately, I’m with you guys, although there’s definitely a little cognitive dissonance for me. I don’t have a mountain of bitcoin, and what I have isn’t anywhere accessible, but that's actually the thing that’s got me thinking about this way too much recently.

The reports coming out of people getting kidnapped and tortured are even more disturbing when you’re actually protecting your bitcoin properly. The attacker has little to gain, but they don’t know that, and I’ve got a LOT to lose in non-monetary terms. I wish there was a geographically distributed multi-sig sign I could put up next to my home monitoring one.

reply

If multi-sig becomes common enough, then it would naturally become common knowledge to criminals that attacking someone who owns Bitcoin is not enough to steal their Bitcoin.

If people put their savings behind even 1 year timelocks, then it will also be common knowledge that even after you kidnap someone and get all their keys, you still can't steal their funds until you wait long enough. Long enough that police might get involved before the timelock releases.

reply

I would be very interested in learning more about a multi-sig option with a time-lock for things like estate planning (with the added benefit of security now). Know of any non-custodial wallets that include these options together?

Liana wallet (you can also purchase support from Liana)

For @grayruby @k00b @Undisciplined @Coinsreporter and all others who think or don't think that Rewards leaderboard can be gammed.

reply

Hardly call it invincible. It works and that's good enough. My point was not to overhaul the rewards mechanism but for the community to not tolerate clear abusers and where possible counteract their behavior. The debate was not about changing the algo it was about the perception of valued activity on SN.

reply

Surely, I understood your point. It was I who first noticed that unusual activity #675565 and informed. I was unsatisfied because someone with 500 sats zap came in top 5 and I was even out of 40 while I zapped double than him. The invincibility that I think comes not from the SN Algo but it's we as stackers make it invincible. After, I noticed I saw others also noticed and we're now more aware about if so eonw wants to game. Whether that stacker is a gamer or not is still questionable. He's even today at 10th rank.

reply

Great. Thanks for clarifying your thought process. I wanted to ensure to clarify mine as well as after I brought it up it seemed people were piling on a bit and that wasn't the intent. I don't have a better solution than the current algo to root out spam and reward good content so without a better idea I don't want to deride it.

reply

I also don't think it'd be best to deride it. It clearly is the best mechanism for many other valuable aspects.

I brought it up it seemed people were piling on a bit.

I think it's good if people just pile on it. If everyone does the same it's a fair game.

reply

I understood your intent. Making people aware of it is important. But it doesnt seem to be working yet. They are rising on the board again.

reading the @darthcoin guides, while still waiting for people to start reading the guides.

reply

@k00b @ek how about posting the Meme Mondays in the ~Design territory?

reply

It feels a little off topic imo. Maybe when we have crossposting it can be one of the territories it goes in.

Are you just wanting more content?

reply

Make sense! Crossposting will be awesome!

More than waiting... just brainstorming how to revamp the territory!

reply

I'd research design subreddits and see what they're doing. It can take a lot cold start a community so I wouldn't start from scratch.

reply

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll need to create an account there, then... Or maybe not!

reply

Does this count

There are many good news aggregator sites and methods to stay updated with the news. Here are some popular options: 1. Google News: This is a very popular site that collects news from many sources. You can customize it to see news about your favorite topics. 2. Flipboard: This app lets you create your own magazine. You can choose the topics you like, and it will show you articles from different sources. 3. Feedly: This is a feed reader where you can follow your favorite websites and blogs. You can see all the new articles in one place. 4. Reddit: On Reddit, you can find news in different "subreddits." For example, r/news has many news articles from different sources. 5. Apple News: If you have an Apple device, this app gives you news from many sources. You can also follow specific topics. 6. Social Media: Platforms like Twitter and Facebook can also be good for news. Just follow news organizations and journalists.
