Hey
I am just curious, is there a way to message people on here privately?
If I just want to chat with a specific person?
Other than finding an obscure post and typing on it together?
Anyones ideas are welcome!

We will only introduce private messages when we can end to end encrypt them - so they are truly private. We have plans to do this but it'll at least be a few months until we get to it.

How are you thinking of doing it? We're exploring combining e2ee / private key management stuff with secure enclaves to add verifiably private and secure use cases to existing applications via JWT / normal user login / oauth.
Could be a cool proof of concept here if you're open to that approach.

We would probably use signal’s protocol with clientside key management. We aren’t actively working on it so nothing is locked or anything.

Might be able to help with at least the client side key management part. Expecting users to manage, sync, and secure private keys for normal applications (let alone wallets) may be a big limiting factor. Even if you still want to roll your own, would love to chat as you start thinking about it more.

Might I suggest adding a feature the lets SN receiving users to set minimum sat amount (in their settings) that is require for them to receive the message.
If SN sending user really wants to send Wumbo a messages they will have to pony up some sats.
For example : 100,000 Sats per message
This hopefully will take care of spam messages.

That will be cool.
I would like to have some private conversations with some of the stackers.

The way I’ve seen it done is with SimpleX Chat. Some stackers put a link in their bio to connect. I’ve done the same. It is E2E encrypted, no email or phone number required, and you can spin up unlimited profiles - for instance I have one just for SN.
Someone even created a group for SN stackers to chat. Thought it is pretty quiet #433342

I will have to take a look at this post.
I know there was a chat feature at the bottom, I just have never used it.

Hi, have you tried GnuPG?
Btw, I'm looking for cyberpunks who actively use GnuPG and want to expand their web of trust by cross signing keys...
If anyone interested just DM me.

What is E2EE?
Im not going to be doing illegal things, I just want to talk to some of my favorite stackers.
Their wealth of experience and advice would be nice to hear about.

I wanted to chime in and say that E2E encryption is not about illegal things. It’s for everyone, and ideally everywhere.
Everyone has the right to communicate privately, everyone needs E2E encryption of communications to protect them from malicious actors. By the nature of E2E, even if the operator is malicious, the user is protected.
Don’t think of it as enabling illegal activities, but protecting peoples communications from malicious actors of all persuasions.

This means we can read your messages if we want
