This is the second tour video I've watched. According to some of the commentary in the videos, this is where all the accused of gang-related crimes in El Salvador are sent and the prison can house a total of 40,000 inmates at a time.
The first video I watched didn't show the solitary cells, so I was surprised people serving life sentences in these conditions were so tranquil, but this video showed the solitary cell which lacks even light.
I don't have a judgement to share, but it's helpful to see how the gang solution is shaping up.

It troubles me but also I don't know enough to have an intelligent opinion on it. I have a friend from the country and the stories he tells give me pause. I can't imagine the kind of fear they lived under even ten years ago.
I do know this. The US drug policy plays a roll in all of this and I wish we could see an ending of the "drug war" but it is so lucrative I don't see that happening soon.

I wonder when there will be a prison break? Keeping so many "valuable" inmates together will cause trouble eventually.

Very happy to see this getting better. I see a bright future for El Salvador now!
