From the Sengoku period, known as the 'Warring States period' in Japanese history, from the 15th-16th centuries.
Gekokujō
The upheaval resulted in the further weakening of central authority, and throughout Japan, regional lords, called daimyōs, rose to fill the vacuum. In the course of this power shift, well-established clans such as the Takeda and the Imagawa, who had ruled under the authority of both the Kamakura and Muromachi bakufu, were able to expand their spheres of influence. There were many, however, whose positions eroded and were eventually usurped by more capable underlings. This phenomenon of social meritocracy, in which capable subordinates rejected the status quo and forcefully overthrew an emancipated aristocracy, became known as gekokujō (下克上), which means "low conquers high".

Enjoying the day with my fiance on this beautiful July 4th.
Thinking about how in America we need more time off to spend with our family and loved ones. This culture of grind grind grind isn't healthy! I am happy to be born here in the U.S. - but want a strong recovery.

pretty cool, but isn't getting a bit too much trying to build EVERYTHING on top of Nostr ( a classic single point of failure? )? why not LN login instead, I'd rather use LN wallet to login than Nostr.

Yesterday I was curious to know the prices of housing in the state of Venezuela where I was born and I was surprised that I can buy a house with 20 thousand dollars or even a little less; Of course there are houses and apartments with higher prices, I saw a beautiful house with a pool for 100 thousand dollars, I saw small 2-bedroom apartments for 15 thousand dollars, those prices are from one of the best municipalities in the state, it is not high class, but yes On average, when I was a child/teenager it was considered the safest municipality in the state and the best cared for. I continued my research and reviewed prices of houses in remote towns in Venezuela and there are prices from 3 thousand dollars!! Do you know what it's like to buy a house with 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bathroom for only 3 THOUSAND DOLLARS??!! Is incredible. In the capital Caracas the prices are something else, as a worthy capital the prices are higher. Will it be worth buying a house in Venezuela? I have noticed that there are many investors acquiring assets in the country.

if for yourself / family living, fine; if for anything else, I rather hold Bitcoin so that won't end up at the mercy of others and a peace of mind.
reply
Yes of course, I mean for it to be a family heritage, I'm already bored of paying rent
reply
Paying rent gives you freedom to move around tho, but yeah crafting your own place in the way you like def feels better especially when you got kids.
reply

Exactly! I like having the freedom to move wherever and whenever I want, but I also want my own little piece of land, where I can have my things, a small garden, have my own safe place, our own love nest, my daughter deserves it.

“Obsession” is a feeling that has always been labeled as bad, but honestly, in certain cases I think it is a blessing.
In general, the term "obsession" is used to describe thoughts or behaviors that are intrusive, persistent, and cause discomfort or interference with daily life. Therefore, from that perspective, obsession would not be considered "good."
However, the term "obsession" can also be used more broadly to refer to an extreme focus or dedication toward something that is deeply passionate or interesting. In this sense, it could be said that there are people who have an "obsession" with work, music, sports or any other field in which they are intensely involved.
And that is the key, getting intensely involved, when you are obsessed with achieving a goal you don't have to worry about motivation, since you enter a state of flow where you are motivated all the time and you really enjoy doing what you like.
It is not a secret that most people who have succeeded in any field have been obsessed with that field,
And that is the point you should look for, that point of obsession where every day you wake up wanting to take on the world, to become a little better than the 'me' that went to bed a few hours ago.
Obsession is the path to success.

Has anyone here used a Kindle alternative that doesn't suck (screen and battery)?
I don't want buy a Kindle again, but it's hard finding anything else at a reasonable price and quality.
P.S. I live in Brazil, so buying abroad is basically off the table as the taxes make anything beyond 50 dollars double the price.

In

The prefix “in”, which means “into”, “on” or “within”, can also mean “not”, “no” or “opposite of”, therefore the prefix “in” before a word can change said word to mean the exact opposite.
Such as:
  • Sane and Insane
  • Dependent and Independent
  • Complete and Incomplete
  • Visible and Invisible
reply
My favorite is "inflammable," where the "in" does absolutely nothing to change the meaning of the word.
