This holiday, I have formed the habit of listening to “The School of Greatness “ helmed by Lewis Howes. I mean, I have kinda been listening to his podcasts, but recently, I have made it a point to listen to his work, regardless of whether I get sats from Fountain or not.
For the uninitiated, The School of Greatness features Lewis interviewing an expert in his or her chosen field. Actually, after a while, I notice that all these successful and driven individuals keep mentioning the same stuff. Clarify your values. Focus on value creation. Have an abundance mindset. I won’t be surprised if many of his guests are HODLing Bitcoin. xP
Anyway, his interviews made me reflect on my thinking. Last November, before territories were rolled out, I made a comment that I was apprehensive that the increase in territories would dilute the community vibes of SN because conversations would be more scattered. I was skeptical about whether SN would have enough pulling clout to house conversations on a plethora of topics.
I was certainly dead wrong. I didn’t foresee that so many Stackers would stand forward and make themselves count. Some territory owners made the effort to recruit users from Nostr and were determined to wait for the long haul for their territories to turn profitable. Thank goodness for you, you and you because my mind has been expanded as a result of these territories. Some territories like alter_native made me reflect on what I am doing differently from others, while others like Fireside Philosophy prodded me to explore a theme definitively like a BOSS rather than resort to my usual style, which is to ask others for their inputs. I reckon that I have gained chutzpah from this experience. It’s an ego booster, knowing that my posts have managed to recoup my posting fees. I wouldn’t have been able to explore other facets of my writing, if it weren’t for territories.
So, I had a scarcity mindset last year as I assumed erroneously that SN wouldn’t expand sufficiently in order to occupy its increased scope. I think what I really felt from Lewis’ podcasts and my experience with SN is that I need to have an abundance mindset and trust that the Universe will come around to fulfilling my bigger hopes. Dream big, work hard, provide unique value, and evolve into someone who dishes out impact for breakfast.
The free market is sorting out territories nicely in my opinion. Bitcoin and bitcoin adjacent posts are still the most popular which are understandable but we have created a nice breadth of subject matter across SN now with territories and some are doing well and others not so much but that's what makes a market. The Stackers will decide which territories will stand the test of time.

Indeed, my mind has been expanded in ways I cannot fathom

We owe @grayruby our gratitude. He was the winning general in the battle over territories.
The reason I was so onboard was that there were all these little tangential conversations that revealed a lot of depth in topics beyond Bitcoin. I knew we could reach new heights by fostering those discussions, even if it was just amongst the people who were already here.

Some would disagree that it was an upgrade. I was worried when I saw 50 territories pop pup in the first couple months. That's definitely not what I envisioned but as I commented to sensei the free market is sorting that out on its own.

It's definitely not the set of topics I would have expected, but that's also part of what's great about markets.

IIRC we had 42 territories in a couple days.

Yes it was like the big bang.

Absolutely, the Godfather of territories. He walked so we could run. 🫡

Kudos to @grayruby for his passion about sports!

I've grown up with somewhat of a scarcity mindset as all. It is destructive, but I have changed now! I know at any moment in time I can make more money, and create more value in this world. I understand where the mindset comes from, especially those on fixed incomes or dependent on one ordinary income!

You are in your 30s, right? Good that you realised this early. Men bloom in their 40s, so you have plenty of time
reply
Just turned 30! I'm starting to bloom just recently. I wouldn't call the 20s a complete waste but definitely something I look at now - and want to take longer deeper strides now.

It would have been too difficult to find the groove that fits best for anyone.

But well you found yours xP

I came here and they were already established. I do remember at one point thinking how I would ever afford the fees to post on some of the more expensive territories. Not that that is something I have thought about in a while with my random ramblings.

I think you are more of a commenter anyway
reply
Both. Lately I have been trying to post more, but I dont want unauthentic material.

I think that the more territories SN has, the more likely it is that more users will arrive because we don't all like the same things, if there is a territory about of UFOs, for example, stackers can come who only want to share information about UFOs and nothing else, while others can work on many topics.

I definitely find interesting different territories where you can read about different things. Better give wider options to choose from.
reply
Yes, n it’s like taking on a different persona when we post on a different territory
