I've been trying to find a tool that let me post text behind a paywall (of course, for LN payments)
I read this post and tried some of the options mentioned on it.
  • LnBits: Failed to create an account.
  • LnPay: web site is down.
  • WordForm: It is what I need, very simple and easy to use. But, I created an account and upload an article using my GetAlby extension. I sign out. When I sign in again, all my data is lost...even my wallet!
  • BTCPayServer: too complicated for me.
  • GetMash: web site down.
  • ScribSats: Could be the one, but it's a suscription model. I'm happy to pay a % the SATs received.
  • Agora: not longer exist.
@k00b & @ek Would be possible to have an optional paywall feature on SN? Something like, the writer choose the price for their content, choose the Territory and pay the posting fee. And any reader who pay the price using an external wallet or the SN wallet could access the content...
In my mind looks good. But not an expert on the topic.
Cheers
I personally would not want to see paywalls go up, but I'm fine with creators having that option.
What's the appeal of using a paywall? People zap content already and the rewards system incentivizes higher levels of zapping than people are currently doing, so zapping should continue rising.
I'm pretty sure paywalled content would make a lot less than just openly posting.

You forgot yalls.
In general, I don't like paywalls, but they make sense in certain contexts. It's not a priority right now though.
Questions for you: What do you want to happen when you post a paywalled post and someone shares the full text in a comment or another post?
reply
It's a good question, but that is imposible to control.
Me, as the author of the content, there is nothing I could do.
I'll take a look at yalls. Thanks!

I feel like this would have the opposite effect.

I love the free and openness of SN right now. I think if prices were set low it might be okay, but we want more engagement on posts - and a good way to reduce eyes and engagement is a pay wall (unless the creator is popular and well known).

I think it would be cool to have a full 'subscriptions' feature where a creator could enable subscriptions for a certain amount and make 'premium posts' that were only viewable by subscribers or creator could also opt to make these premium posts for sale individually.

As a user, I don't think a paywall on SN (whose ethos is people paying for posts that have demonstrated, not might demonstrate, value) makes sense.
That said, your issues above show that there's a void that someone (including k00b and ek, since they've got so much existing code) could reasonable fill by launching a good paywall-based product. I'd be very happy to see such a product, myself.

I've been thinking of something like that too

Why? What's broken?
