like a look back? pretty cool but will you do it everyday 🤔
I personally feel the date doesn't really matter, but the topics being linked or shared by different ppl throughout different times are more interesting.
reply
We'll see. Maybe I've bitten off more than I can chew.
The date gives me a basis for choosing old content. I'm open to alternative proposals.
reply
This could be easily automated so as to reduce difficulty in keeping it up
reply
I fully support anyone wanting to do so. I’m not sure what this should ultimately look like, though, so I wouldn’t want to do that yet.
reply
Yea it needs time to take shape! Great idea though

I have been thinking more and more about this. Maybe you or someone could do a daily post sort of like my "golden oldies" for books and articles, where you curate an article or two from way back that got a lot of engagement, then editorialize on it a bit. I thought of doing this in the days before territories. Every day might be a little tough, but weekly might make sense.
reply
Good idea. I dashed this one off pretty quickly and was mostly interested in seeing if there was any interest.
I think it will be more valuable to me to take a little more time reading these posts so I can write a little summary. That probably is too much work for a daily post, but I could probably manage that weekly.
I also realized that I should be doing a zap split with these folks.
reply
It may be tough to keep up, but it's a great idea.
reply
I’m already thinking about doing a weekly top 3 version, instead.
I’ll play around with it a bit and see what the right setup is.
reply
That would be good too. That's what I'm trying to accomplish with my territories. We need more of this.
reply
Ha! I love it. I'm going to read some of these oldies later. Thanks for compiling them!
reply
Also, at some point (I don't remember it being announced, but maybe it was?) @k00b or @ek or some other star added it so that I got notified that you linked the evergreen-ness post. Nice job, boys!
reply
It was announced here as "item mention notifications"
reply
That’s a neat feature
reply
This is great, so the great posts of the past don't get lost in oblivion.
reply
That’s the hope. I’m glad people are interested.
reply
Yes! I came to SN after those posts, so I wouldn't have found them any other way, I'm already reading some of them, thank you very much.
reply
Cool idea. You need a bot to do this daily.
reply
I want to iterate on the idea a little bit first. Then, maybe one of the nerds will automate it, once it's dialed in.
reply
Look at you hanging out at the top of the pops. Guess I was holding you down. Wash trading sats all day clearly was knocking us down a peg or two.
reply
Did you see the actual explanation?
@anon had a really high trust rating. I think that hurt us, because they never took part in our wash trading, so we had really low trust w/ anon.
reply
Damn anon.
reply
I think this is cool and helpful! I’m brand new to stacker news and sites like it so it’s helpful to get a historical snapshot of how to best engage in this community.
reply
Glad to hear it.
There are a lot of gems back there and we aren't really sure how to unearth them. Hopefully, this is a step in the right direction.
reply
This is super amazing!
A great idea! This matches so much with the local newspaper's corner story on editorial where they publish 'On This Day'.

Great job, Would be great for new Stackers. They will also be able to enjoy the old top posts.

I hope so

what gems you've dug up
reply
I've probably suggested someone else do a post like this about half-a-dozen times and it never occurred to me to just do it myself.
reply
Cool! I like newsletters and now this is a great initiative!!
reply
Great! This is going to be very helpful to everyone who might have missed the best moments of SN..
