The date gives me a basis for choosing old content. I'm open to alternative proposals.

This could be easily automated so as to reduce difficulty in keeping it up

I fully support anyone wanting to do so. I’m not sure what this should ultimately look like, though, so I wouldn’t want to do that yet.
