I always liked this song. I think I'm too young to be an old guy though! I like the Buckaroos' version of it quite a bit too, although I wish it was the full thing. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=J3rF82V7eus

I wasn't feeling this cover on first listen, but now it's growing on me.

I'm glad it's growing on you! It is definitely a different take on it. They're actually a country band if you can believe that! They were the backing group for Buck Owens, creator of the Bakersfield sound in country music. His backing band would record albums on the side, and sometimes they would have a more experimental sound.

Interesting! Buck Owens. I'm not a modern country fan, but I do love the old greats- Hank, Merle Haggard, Waylon, etc.

You might be interested to know that Merle played bass with them for a while, and came up with the band's name!
I'm not a big fan of the modern country sound either, but there are some modern artists doing more of a classic sound or a genre cross that I like. I'm definitely a fan of a lot of the older music though, Merle is great!

I guess I misspoke. I do like modern country and bluegrass too, just not what I consider bad country! For instance, I like Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle a lot.
This is very cool. I enjoy the moments where they are explaining something and they hear a part and smile. Just a minor acknowledgment of "yeah that was great".

That spot when Garth smiles behind the keyboards after the classic clavinet break! He nailed it.

If I had a sat for every time I was in a bar when someone plays this tune on a jukebox and the place goes crazy.

No one writes songs like that anymore. Guys don't sit around in the studio or rehearsal space and just jam on stuff and try different things. It's all overproduced now. Here is the song, you have your part come in and record it and get out.
Back then guys were just jamming all day, shootin the shit, having fun. I think the fond memories of those great times probably has to do with smiles as well.

You summed it up.
