Just shipped a ~jobs design iteration. Basically moved some stuff around and added logos.
Going to add polls next I guess. Then need to work on performance, do some code maintenance/review, and some ops enhancements. Then we'll add our first sub.
Ratio'd (for the count of comments) the post with the direct link to the DoJ press release even. 255 comments for the SN link, versus 80 for the DoJ link.
What is happening here? This link is to stacker.news, a HN-like website. It's for a story that is another active top story already on HN.
Are folks just commenting on the headline without even clicking the link?
Which, I would agree. For example, nobody wants to see a post here on SN that is just a link to a post on HN, which itself is a link to an underlying article somewhere else.
Yeah, even if it did drive a ton of traffic, it's not really fair to HN to get links to links. Especially when we have less discussion around it than they do.
Seeing a lot more AMAs recently- curious if SN is more aggressively seeking out AMA guests or are people / connections starting to hit up SN to participate in the fun? Or more people saying yes seeing the prior guests? All of the above?
We haven't had many folks ask for AMAs. I've found people are kind of shy and think no one wants to ask them questions.
@kr has been reaching out/scheduling all of them. When I was scheduling them I was only attempting to do one per week. But it seems like there's no need to limit it.
