Good brand names are always the flagship of a successful campaign. And so the USA and the Europeans agree to call the bonds to finance the war in Ukraine peace bonds. This is particularly easy to sell to the thoroughly propagandized Europeans. The collateral for these bonds will initially be the profits from the confiscated Russian assets, which are currently held by euroclear in Belgium. This decision is also likely to be the death knell of Euroclear in the long term. International financial flows function on the basis of trust. This is likely to be destroyed once and for all. The next step will probably be the partial and then final expropriation of Russian assetsInternational financial flows work on the basis of trust, which is now likely to be destroyed for good. The European Union is bankrupt, we know what the state of American finances is. It is the next step that seems inevitable.
Really short sighted. As dumb as taking Russia off SWIFT.

Europe is in a war with Russia (even if most do not yet realise it) and in war anything goes.
reply
We didn’t do this to Germany in the first and second world wars.
Europe chose to declare war on Russia. They are under no obligation to defend Ukraine.
The anti Russian hawks have lost their minds

We probably should have. Yes. Europe wants to defend itself from future aggression. Russia has a well documented history of invading their neighbouring countries.
You are ok with Russia invading a sovereign country, but someone punishing them by taking their money is not? Jesus christ.

Calm down
My position is the West should be neutral in this conflict.
Extending NATO membership to Ukraine is a geopolitical blunder especially since 26 members are delinquent on their membership dues.

Why? We are very much affected by it. Russia is next door. Especially worrying since Putin keeps saying they should bring back the Soviet Union (ish). You do know many EU and Nato states were part of the Soviet Union at some point, right?
reply
I’ve lost count but all after 1996.
It was a mistake to extend membership to the Warsaw Pact and Baltic states
We should remain neutral between Russia and Ukraine. No strategic interest for West except provoking Russia

They are riding a dead horse to Hades

Can NATO members use Russian assets to pay their annual dues?
2 percent of annual GDP
Only 6 out of 32 members are not delinquent
reply
It wouldn't be enough

the thoroughly propagandized Europeans.
I would argue you are victim of Russian propaganda, you just don't realize it.

I am media agency owner and freelancer in the sector for more than 25 years. I am part of the propaganda machine. Of course each side is bombarding the people to maintain the money flow. You should study the propaganda wars in the cold war to understand the dynamics.

I know thing or two how propaganda works, have read "Mein Kampf", for example.

It makes more sense for me to spend time and resources 3D printing some stuff for Ukrainian army that's useful in battleground.

I hope You won't take money from the new 'freedom fund' to help more ukrainians find their way to heaven too early.... its highly unethical to feed the meat grinder to defend some special interests of the war machine and degenerate clowns like cocaine Wolodomyr without fighting by Yourself
Context: he is from Latvia
Toppling Putin is top priority

And let as much ukrainians die as possible without taking any risk by himself....

My views on Russia haven't changed much since childhood when I was living under Russian occupaton in Soviet Union, was really hard to get your hands on Western propaganda, due to hard censorship.
reply
Do you support NATO membership for Ukraine?
reply
Yes, it should be their choice. But not now, of course, after war ends. It's problematic to become NATO member when you have unsolved broder disputes (although Estonia and Russia don't have fully ratified border agreement till today).
reply
I don’t support NATO membership for Ukraine.
This is one reason we have conflicting views on Russia and Ukraine

One of my classmates wrote her thesis supporting NATO expansion. I told her thesis is wrong. We are no longer friends lol.

Without Latvia joining NATO in 2004 it's high possibility Latvia as a country would not exist today.

Hey, do you follow Survival Lilly from Austria? Her most recent video seems to point to escalating tensions, lots of war propaganda, she talks very seriously about emigrating out of the EU (some of the options she mentions are Argentina, Costa Rica, Thailand).
Interesting stuff.

Interesting. Thank You. The EU clearly is a sinking ship now. The shitbags from Brussels are searching for icebergs

I've just read a zerohedge article about the European Council President calling on Europe to switch to a war economy, "to boost its economy, create jobs and growth." I think this confirms your claim that Europe is bankrupt, and they are running out of options...

Thank You for mentioning this. A lot of youngsters here around do not believe what I say or what they can see by themselves

Almost all economists know that the Eurozone and especially the Euro are in serious trouble, most economists do not give the euro more than 15-20 years of life, and the ECB wants desperately to save it with the digital Euro, what nonsense.
