What's your bitcoin story? How did you hear about it? What convinced you of its utility?
My Bitcoin story is really simple. I smoke a lot of cigarettes and started at a really young age. I find the restrictions put on children being able to smoke completely immoral, as well as the taxes.. Being able to operate outside the system in the P2P cigarette market fixes this. Also the price of cigarettes in sats trends down over time so I know that all the sats I get today will buy me more cigarettes in the future
Have you considered rolling your own, so you don't have to deal with the whole oppressive filter construct?
Yes I have considered it but rolling your own is really poor people's behavior. I agree the filter is lame but it is convenient because of the way it helps the cigarette hold its shape.
peer-to-peer cigarette circular economies are known to be highly susceptible to supply/demand fluctuations. Do you think this is a good time to invest in cigarette's?
It's always a good time to invest in cigarettes. It is investing in your personal happiness. Don't fear the volatility

Hopefully this year. That will be the Bugle's biggest accomplishment and is what I'm shooting for. You'll know Bitcoin has hyperbitcoinized when that happens

Thanks! It can be hard to go all the way with some of these stories. Sometimes the little twists and turns can be breathtaking. But I'll keep pounding against the wall until something shakes loose and the entire story comes into focus.

I have many years in Bitcoinlandia and I learned something: it's easier to say sorry (if you made a mistake) than censor yourself, just for the sake of not "insulting" somebody.
Nowadays are so many snowflakes that is almost impossible not to "insult" them. So I said... fuck it, I will shit on anybody that piss me off. If they don't like it, is their problem, not mine. If I see that was my mistake I would just say sorry.

What are your thoughts on AI? Will it make you obsolete? Or will your misinformation always be of higher quality?
I've dabbled with using Chat GPT to write articles, though I struggle with it because there are so many guard rails that make satire really hard.
I think theres a ton of possibility from the AI front to make funnier, higher quality content. I'm not afraid of being obsolete by it as it will never have the grit and determination of a journalist like me.
I could definitely use something like midjourney for art for articles but don't want to pay for it yet until we have money.

Yeah I agree, though AI can be used to help with outlines of articles as well as other functions. I think it's great for art.

I have been dabbling in freelance writing for some years though I have always concentrated on Japanese culture. If I wish to branch out to writing about Bitcoin, what traits do you think I need given that the space is pretty saturated with more talented writers than me?
Find a niche to focus on and become knowledgeable on that topic is my suggestion.

Rolling cigarettes is behaving like a poor person and I refuse to do that.
I just prefer taking the leaves and sticking them between my gums after failing the one-handed roll

What do you wish you'd done differently when starting the bugle?
That's a really good question. I think the big one is just being more thoughtful on the website deployment. It's going to migrate to something custom eventually and will likely be a major pain to transfer all the articles over.
Other than that, I think it will be some time before I can really answer that question because we aren't even a year old yet.
Are you a one man army? Or is there a team behind the Bitcoin Bugle?
There are a bunch a people who have contributed articles to the Bugle. Nobody gets paid though as we have no real revenue stream, though people do donate corn once in a while which goes towards running the site.
The audience has the ability to direct tip contributors which is fun. The more people are willing to tip content creators directly, the more the Bugle can grow
I can confirm that while I like Dick, I am not one.
What will you buy with the sats from this AMA?
Most of the sats that we have on stacker news stay on stacker news and go back towards either Bugle authors or other posts on this platform. Really bullish on stacker news and want to support it as much as possible

Yeah just witnessing a lot of the nonsense in the industry made me want to report on it. The biggest inspiration though is the greatest parody/satire site of all time which is the New York Times
