Today I think I am finally going to take a Sunday off and make chicken mole with spanish rice. My mom used to make this for us when I was young it was my favorite meal she made us.
Yesterday I did a little grilling at the lab and it came out great everyone seemed to enjoy it.
Been on a cooking kick lately.
reply
I will be grilling a beautiful sirloin steak later today. What is your go-to method that you recommend for the perfect steak?
Would love advice from @DarthCoin as well 😂
reply
I am not entirely great a cooking steaks on a grill, I just try not to over cook it but @k00b is
reply
Advice: wait for grill to be very hot and only give it a few minutes on each side. When it doubt, or if you're picky, use a meat thermometer.
reply
I am a simple guy, I like simple things. I like to make the meat on a big hot rock. Slowly... Just put some salt and done.
Meat on rock is rock'n'roll baby!

Will be grilling a steak later. What's your favorite method?
reply
Nothing beats a grilled steak but pan seering in the kitchen is my most frequent method
reply
Absolutely. Especially when you live in a place where grilling season is 7 months. Will be manning the bbq later today.

Series to watch in weekend:
  • Yellowstone (Kevin Costner)
  • 1883 - spin off of Yellowstone
  • 1923 - spin off of Yellowstone (With Harrison Ford)
Really good ones. Enjoy!

Those are all so good. Patiently waiting for the second half of Yellowstone's latest season.

the episode with the proposal to sell meat directly to restaurant chain was immediately make me think to bitcoiners and beef initiative. Maybe they were inspired.

It made me think of the beef initiative too!

2 episodes into the last season of Yellowstone. Haven't watched the spin offs yet.

The movie is great, chasing immortals made people forget to LIVE in the moment; it is like many people busy doing XYZ so to achieve something, but they forget to live each day.
did anyone read The Denial of Death by Ernest Becker? I found this reference here, seems like an interesting book
To live is to engage in experience at least partly on the terms of the experience itself.
reply
exactly. And that's why I stop doing anything else in my life and start living it. If I die, so be it, but at least I die happy, finishing my dream.
reply
It's quite a nice little reminder; good thing is at least we stopped living in the illusions - how many people believe all their life purpose is to earn more slave coupons.
I haven't watched this. Where does it stream?

ughhhh what a small world, which almost means maybe other movies from Darren Aronofsky are also good.
hahahaha people should more often do this: "fuck it, I will not do anything else today, will just do (watch, read, listen) what Darth said many days ago."
And don't forget: Smile, tomorrow will be worse.
Sometimes, myself, I have days that I DO NOTHING. Just sit and look to the sky, maybe think. Sometimes, "empty days" are really good.
reply
not just from you, but also many good inputs from other stackers.

When I'm doing nothing, it might end up being one of the most creative/ productive days, so I enjoy doing nothing, no plans, no phones, nothing.

I must expand my horizons. I'm still mired in the early 1970s with a few exceptions.
reply
Nothing wrong with that lol!
reply
I second that. 70s were good times
reply
Of course I agree. The problem is I will make snap judgments about music instantly. Like, I have an aversion to anything that I feel is overproduced, which basically means music that could not be recreated live by say a 5 member band.
reply
Over produced is an interesting term.. I dislike music mass produced, maybe which is sterile or chemical (perhaps even ‘fiat’).
Would you describe ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ as over produced? I think it’s an amazing song and very innovative and strange and complex. And almost impossible to perform all of it live in it’s day.
I always tend to think if it’s not able to be performed live then its not worthy.
reply
Perfect example! I was not a huge Queen fan, but that song transcended my narrow rules. There are other exceptions too.
Preparing my backpack. Tomorrow will go back to my citadel to see if I can continue a bit more to work through all these rainy days.
reply
Do you usually get good days this time of year?
reply
hardly. 2-3 days of rain, 1-2 days of sun. I need to push as much as I can to continue until I finish those 3 walls of bags. Is almost done. The hard part is to fill the bags with very wet dirt, is sticky and hard to manipulate. I hope October will be much sunny and calm.

Fun fact: if you ever wondered why my name is Natalia, because I really like Natalie Portman from black swan, so I chose her name Natalie, but there are many Natalies.! I didn't want people to be confused, so I changed to the Spanish one: Natalia
Then later I realized that she was in Star War too, what a nice name I had chosen 🥸
reply
Black Swan scared the hell out of me.
reply
why, it is such a nice one; I don't remember exactly why I like her so much after this movie, maybe I should rewatch it too
Amidala (Natalie) it represent FREEDOM in the movie. Anakin / Darth loved so much freedom.
His whole struggle was all about loving freedom. Few people understands the whole story.
reply
guess I would need to rewatch it

Did anyone ever try to make handmade paper? It can be either made from recycled paper or trees.
One of the reasons why I learned this is because I often write many things on paper, so I would need to learn how to destroy them safely. Going outside to find a shredder is too much work, I prefer something simple, and here is a good solution I found:
  1. Sock the paper you want to destroy, ideally 2-3 days.
  2. Tear them into smaller pieces, it's much easier to do this while everything is underwater.
You can pretty much throw them away by separating them at this stage, but if you want to level up the fun, the only extra tool you need to have is a small wooden frame, which you can also easily make at home; then It is amazing how you can play around making different sizes and thicknesses, coloring with herbs, decorating with flowers, or even experimenting the smell with essential oils 👀
reply
That’s so neat, I remember doing this with cloth and a screen.
The flowers are a nice touch 👌
reply
thanks 🤓 it is always full of fun when getting your hand dirty - I love the freedom of being able to try and test things out.!
reply
Heck Yeah! I used to do that for my Art. Wprkimg on reclycled paper is more pleasing... I haven't done it lately, couple of years at least, so thanks for the reminder. I've got lots of paper ready for recycling... ...good morning and happy Sunday, my plebs... Live, love, and inspire! #myrtlebeach #sc

One of the most interesting things I have learned from my travels and experience is that the best place to live is often well-kept, and there are many unknown ( often easy ) ways to get residencies, but not many people promote those because, well, why attract more people to destroy the beauty and peace? 😂
But then you would see many marketers promoting those expensive ones yet with averaging living quality, because more money is being made in those well-designed programs.!

edit: Actually, I was looking for this song from CCR because of the instrumentals at the beginning

I am a big CCR fan. I never got to see the original lineup, but I saw John Fogarty live about 10 years ago. I still remember where I was the moment I first heard Bad Moon Rising. I thought for sure the lyrics were "There's a bathroom on the right". Loved that as a kid, if course. I had all their albums, and Fogarty's solo later on.

ᕦ(ò_óˇ) Day 2 of exercising everyday before the saloon opens
I went to the calisthenics park without much of a plan. My goal was just to keep it easy since this is just day 2.
When I arrived, I decided I'll start with 10 counter push-ups, 10 squats, about 10 lunges (just lunged across the width of the park which is about 5m and back) and 10 inverted rows.
I then did this 2 more times. I already struggled with the push-ups and rows on my first set but I kept trying as good as I can without getting too sloppy.
Then I wanted to do some knee raises since I like this exercise.
Did 10 and then I felt like maybe this was too much now.
Back home I just sat down for a while since I struggled with the stairs to my apartment at the fourth floor. Had to take a break.
I think tomorrow I'll sure just go for a walk, lol
