I’d really like to see more circular economics happening with bitcoin, and the strength of our community should easily translate to that happening. So what about once a month small-scale informal bitcoiner flea markets? Being just a small group means it could meet in a public space as it’s not a nuisance or a big event. Is that already happening? Who is working on this? Is there anything close to this out there in the community?
Imagine a flea market where bunch of local bitcoiners get together to trade stuff, bitcoin or barter only. Sure you might sell or buy something neat, but mostly it’s just an excuse to kickstart local bitcoin economies, and get us off the internet, meeting in person, celebrating our appreciation for this community we’re a part of. It could lead to all sorts of great things, including local businesses opting to accept it in payment. Fear of a wrench attack is real but hopefully not a major concern, and ultimately it would be sad to see bitcoiners shy away from in person meetings for fear of retribution. And I think community participation events like this could be really important for explaining why bitcoin matters and is useful in western countries too, not just places with hyperinflation.
Imagine how fun it would be to buy your next used coffee maker(or whatever) in person from another bitcoiner, and how much fun it would be making a joke about missing out on owning more sats but you were going to buy a coffee maker anyway. Also, it wouldn’t matter what price bitcoin is at, it’s still fun to support a local circular economy! It would be both a celebration of how great bitcoin is, and also a great way to make community in the real world.
Of course it’s a niche idea and not about making money but there’s great power in communities coming together, and even if only two or three people showed in a big city it would still be a fun event. Someone would make a joke about sunning their balls, and someone else might bring some cool bitcoin art they made, and someone else might have some random stuff in their garage they want gone, and they’ll take 1 sat for anything because they like the idea of fellow bitcoiners getting use out of it. Etc.
Many thanks frens and i apologize if this is a stupid idea.
It’s a great idea. But it’s also good to be on a safer side. It better to arrange for a meet with at least some persons known and it should be like friends of friends. #Safety

You make an excellent point to not expose myself unnecessarily here and I would imagine other people going might come to the same conclusion, thank you. Maybe it would be good for any organizer to be anonymous as possible I don't know there's a lot of details I really don't know yet and of course they might want to bring a friend like you say

Sure! Like you must have noticed. So many people out there from different backgrounds are adopting crypto. Many persons would be very interested in such meet up.

addendum, A physical flyer for it I thought could be along the lines of:
If you’re in the Seattle Washington July 30th, come to the circular economy swap meet. Bring that cool thing you don’t need anymore and you think another hard money enthusiast would enjoy. Just some good fun in the sun to celebrate the circular economy! Keep stuff from going to the landfill or just sitting in your closet! One man’s trash is another mans treasure! No seed oils allowed! Please sats or barter only to support the intentions of the event, which is to support and empower a community of hard money enthusiasts. message swapmeet@reacher.me for more info

I think it's a great idea, do it.
Also, a $5 wrench attack is always a concern regardless of bitcoin or fiat. The thing is you don't go to the swap meet with all your coins, load up ~$100 of bitcoin on a lightning wallet on your phone and head out.

I agree with you. Hopefully in person events would solidify that fact for ppl & help teach good opsec, as i think lots of ppl are afraid to publicly celebrate their appreciation of bitcoin for fear of exposing themselves to reprisal. There's lots of closet bitcoiners!
