I just read the bio of @cryptoshalix and I think some bitcoiners might be dismissing other people just because of "crypto" in their name or using "crypto".
However, it should depend on the context in which it is used.
Let's not forget that crypto was used for a long time for "cryptography", not for "cryptocurrencies".
Do you think we can take this word back from shitcoiners and use it for "cryptography" again at some point in the future?
My nickname has given game! 😂🤣
At first, when I started buying all the shitcoin I saw on the market, I thought that the crypto part of my nickname was precisely because of cryptocurrencies.
Over time, and after further developing the spiritual side, I have seen that it has to do with encryption and decryption, in general.
Not only in the field of computing, which uses so many types of cryptography (secp256k1, ECDSA, Schnorr, ECC, SHA-2, CSPRNG, HMAC, AES, etc.), but also in the field of Akasha, where I translate the messages that come to me for the people to whom I do soul readings (channellings).
I had been reading posts from Stacker.News behind the shadows for months, and yesterday I jumped to create my account and comment.
Today, I can only say: thank you all for the warm welcome! 🤗
REGARDING THE QUESTION...
Regarding the question that @ekzyis has asked, I totally agree. Simply saying that everything starts with oneself.
That is to say, if each one of us assumes the correct use of words, in general, for any moment, we will see the magic they possess, and how, with time, people around us, who misused the use and meaning of those words, come to use them correctly.

I thought the same thing! That's why I tipped him and welcomed him.

I'm trying with ~crypto now!

i saw this on a job application form: "What's the difference between Bitcoin and crypto?"
reply
Just say cryptography ?
The crypto casino virus is a strong enemy and must be defeated
reply
I absolutely support it. So many "bitcoin-maxies" are afraid of the word "crypto" like fire, as if they don't even analyze it. Personally, I always perceived Crypto as cryptography, not cryptocurrencies (shitcoins).
reply
I agree with you, but there's nothing wrong with Bitcoin maximalism, it's okay to be toxic to scammers, and to do one's best to teach people the difference Bitcoin and literally everything else.
reply
Agreed! I first started using "cryptoquick" in 2005, and registered the domain, cryptoquick.com, in 2009, and I hadn't heard of Bitcoin then. I wasn't working with cryptography at the time, it just sounded cool. But now we have these affinity scammers calling Bitcoin a cryptocurrency, yet Satoshi never used that term in the whitepaper. I'm down with putting the entire term "cryptocurrency" to bed, and calling everything that claims to be a "Better Bitcoin" a fucking scam that is stealing people's money. Do people make their own currencies with good intentions? They can certainly say so, and people can think that, but there's no way to know that's true. What I do know is true, what is cryptographically proven, is that Satoshi never sold his coins, but all the other scammers making their own scamcoins did so. That's what's called a rugpull, a bait and switch, an inflation scam. Scammers don't need to take your coins to have your money if they can just premine and dump on unsuspecting retail investors. People say, "it was voluntary", but that's just blaming the victim, saying "they should've known, should've done their research." We should be blasting the scammers instead. So, I get the vitriol against it, I'm very sympathetic. But why should I change when they're the ones who suck?
Anyway. Next time someone asks if I'm "buying crypto", I'll say, nah, I only use Free Open Source cryptography.

Yes, this.
But I'm not sure on the execution of this approach to just see crypto as meaning cryptography again.
For example, would you say "Bitcoin is crypto"? See this comment: #191198
reply
I would say Bitcoin uses crypto. secp256k1, ECDSA, Schnorr, ECC, SHA-2, CSPRNG, HMAC, AES, that's crypto.
reply
I like that.
reply
It is not to us to decide that.
reply
Of course it is. It is for anyone who uses words to decide that. Unless they're being coerced otherwise for some reason. Then, it is not their decision, but someone else's. But I don't abide by that kind of thing, so, who else would you rather decide?
reply
Is not decision of a small group of people to change how a word is defined by a large group of people. What’s the point in the first place?
reply
This is collectivist nonsense. I'll use language however I please. What other groups of people do is not my concern.
reply
You can use whatever you want however you want, that doesn’t mean you will be well understood by others or you will force others to user the language as you want. You are free to try.
reply
If they want to understand me, they will make the effort. I'm worth it, are you?
reply
I’m not. I will keep saying bitcoin is not crypto :)
reply
Why is bitcoin not crypto? I thought it uses cryptography?
See what I did there? I'll just refuse to accept crypto means cryptocurrency
Haha, I appreciate your honesty.
I also hope this could happen, but that's going to be as hard as being a man carrying a rainbow umbrella and hoping to get a girlfriend.
My son loves rainbow colors, and when I was a kid we drew rainbows so often, but unfortunately depending on the jurisdiction he might need a hard stop at a certain age.
reply
As a gay Bitcoin maxi, I really would prefer you didn't make that comparison...
I might also add, any straight man confident enough to meet women while carrying a rainbow umbrella is very likely gonna do fine.
reply
I prefer to distance from the terminology at all. There is no "again" because the word was not used heavily in Bitcoin until the last 4 or 5 years. Crypto is terminology that serves to muddy the water and nothing more.
reply
I said "again" because cryptographers used to just say "crypto"
reply
Yeah the cryptocurrency people really ruined the word crypto and I think returning it to its original true definition would be best. It is really hard to stop something once it becomes a trendy buzzword though.
reply
Yes, I agree. You only have to convince the hoards of shitcoiners to stop using that term and all will be reinstated as it was.
reply
That is a problem that will solve itself with low enough time preference.
