Honduras has expelled Taiwans "ambasaddor" so Taiwan is now down to about 14 diplomatic allies.
I find it interesting considering they are neighbors with El Salvador. And China seemingly having such firm ties with that country gets my imagination going.
I did some research and it turns out El Salvador and Honduras has been at war in the past. Only for about a week. In 1969 i believe.
Anyway, i wonder what kind of things China can get Honduras to do down the line if their ties remain strong and maybe even become stronger.
PS. 51% attacking Bitcoin even with todays hashrate would just be a drop in the bucket for a government the size of China
My own estimates says about $10B-$15B to acquire the hardware at retail prices to get enough hashrate to attack Bitcoin. Thats the most expensive part. You can run the hardware for around $1M in energy costs per hour.
Compare this to for example the Shanghai Urban Rail Transit expansion has a budget of $44b. And thats just one out of many projects that China is working on.
Can someone recommend me a mobile (android) lightning wallet that is as idiot-proof as muun when it comes to sending & receiving via lightning (so automatically creating channels or whatever it's happening there under the hood) with no minimum transfer amount nor ridiculous fees but that also supports LNURL-auth (or however it is named the thing that lets me use for login here on stacker news).
I tried muun today and was able to send and receive 100 sats but cannot use it to log in here. So I installed Phoenix which according to this list (https://stacker.news/faq#how-do-i-create-a-stacker-news-account) is supposed to allow logging in here but it has minimum transfer limit in size of thousands of sats :(
Well, that explains why Simple Bitcoin Wallet "install" button on google play store is inactive. The question is, why it's the same for Open Bitcoin Wallet?
I had heard talks of that but never knew it actually happened thats crazy just no more development on the wallet still have sbw and could use just haven't used it in a while to be honest definitely downloading OBW here soon
OK tried, it works. But yeah, as previous commenter said it's not 100% intuitive, there is no dedicated option to use lnurl-auth - you need to simply use "send" button to scan the qr code and then it registers. If nobody told me this wallet supports it I would have not clicked around to find out that button dedicated to sending sats works for registering to sites with lnurl-auth.
It didn’t even cross my mind that referrals generate sats. Not sure why. Need to up my game.
You could probably have a dismissible banner at the top of the homepage soon, to copy the referral link. With a second bordered button to invite by fiat email.
Willing to bet that would generate a nice uptick of new users.
Hey everyone, I'm excited to share my latest project: an interactive visualization tool that plots Bitcoin's price, interpolating between linear-linear and log-log scales to reveal the power law at play. This tool aims to help users better understand Bitcoin's growth patterns and price stabilization.
Simply scroll to view different perspectives and gain valuable insights into the underlying factors driving Bitcoin's price.
Would love it if there was a button bottom-right to overlay adoption of other s-curves (inc. internet, mobiles, electricity usage, hash rate) for comparison of where this thing goes next. They’d be disabled by default.
I bought it from Saddle Peak Steak'n Company. My old lady found it in a local butchery, then I ordered a bulk package, and now… I don't know, our breakfasts may have been revolutionized
Finally decided to see what's going on at Nostr. Generally not a user of social media. Yet Bitcoin has a way of dragging the hermit in me out from the cave to check out what's going on with the lightning network, and decentralization of institutions and distribution of information.
Nostr appeared while I was hibernating this last winter, so I also missed out on the initial hype. I did take a closer look recently and it does look great.
I don't intend to pay for Twitter, so joining the BTC tribe on Nostr sounds good to me
Honestly much easier than I thought it would be. I'm using Amethyst and I'm sure I'm doing everything the wrong way but I expected more confusion.
Obviously I'm not running relays or anything. Just kind of poking around. But setting up a profile, linking wallet of satoshi and sending a few zaps around was slick.
I'm kinda just throwing memes into the wind to no one, but pretty cool.
All these things are starting to come together more clearly.
