Honduras has expelled Taiwans "ambasaddor" so Taiwan is now down to about 14 diplomatic allies.
I find it interesting considering they are neighbors with El Salvador. And China seemingly having such firm ties with that country gets my imagination going.
I did some research and it turns out El Salvador and Honduras has been at war in the past. Only for about a week. In 1969 i believe.
Anyway, i wonder what kind of things China can get Honduras to do down the line if their ties remain strong and maybe even become stronger.
PS. 51% attacking Bitcoin even with todays hashrate would just be a drop in the bucket for a government the size of China
My own estimates says about $10B-$15B to acquire the hardware at retail prices to get enough hashrate to attack Bitcoin. Thats the most expensive part. You can run the hardware for around $1M in energy costs per hour.
Compare this to for example the Shanghai Urban Rail Transit expansion has a budget of $44b. And thats just one out of many projects that China is working on.
