Pro-wresting? That tracks. I fell in a weird rabbit hole last night and learned:

  1. his wife was a runaway and a stripper
    • also worked as an escort for years
    • financially supported Jelly early on
    • financed Jelly getting custody of his youngest after baby momma was arrested/strung out
  2. Jelly cheated on his wife early in their marriage
  3. they had an online reality TV show at some point

I had no idea. A friend of mine sent me a clip of a guest spot he did with WWE and said he is supposed to have a match. I haven't really followed wrestling in many years but found it interesting considering he has been doing the media rounds lately showing off his weight loss.

I like pro-wrestling. I've only gone to two in-person shows, and over the last few years, but ompared to other forms of live performances it's great - athletic, dramatic, and fun.

he is supposed to have a match

It's only been two years. I'd be worried he'll get hurt. Tendons/ligaments don't strengthen that fast.

Just wanted to make one comment about food addiction, sometimes called "food noise".

It goes away (at least, it did for me) with Carnivore. I used to always think be thinking and planning my next snack or meal. But now, I eat when I'm hungry, and I'm not tormented by cravings.

I know, I rant on and on about carnivore. But that's because I used to be a true believer in the standard "healthy, balanced diet". And then, thank goodness, I found carnivore, and found out what good health truly is.

For the effects of carnivore (also low-carb and keto) on the brain, check out the book Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind by Dr. Georgia Ede. A wonderful, actionable read, on how to improve your mental health by avoiding carbs.

I didn't have any serious problems with mental health, but for me it did clear up certain OCD type issues, my insomnia went away, and anxiety went way down. There's a reason that people use the phrase "carnivore calm". It's a real thing, that you notice after a few months on carnivore.

And what of your bowels? How has your poop changed? I like to eat clean but I love veggies. I can't really imagine not eating them. A common meal for me is a huge bowl of ground beef but I'll cook mushrooms and carrots and brocolli with onion and garlic in butter before the beef goes into the pan. I just can't imagine my bowels being happy with only meat.

for @k00b also

My digestion totally changed. Now I have a bowel movement about every 3 or 4 days, and the volume is much lower - maybe a quarter of before.

So overall, about 1/12th the volume. That's a HUGE change. There was an adjustment period, I'd say a couple months. A few bouts of diarrhea. Most people have that. I switched to carnivore more slowly than most people, so it wasn't too bad.

The whole thing about the bowel movements being much smaller - it's actually a big thing that convinces me that carnivore is an excellent way to eat. Because...your body is absorbing almost EVERYTHING you're putting in your mouth.

Whereas if you're eating lots of fruit/veggies/grains, there's so much waste. Your body is rejecting it, because it can't use it.

my bowels were fine. as with any large diet shift there may be a adjustment phase, but I was already doing keto before doing carnivore and didn’t have any problems.

to the positive: meat is very digestible so there’s little waste. that can upset one’s expectations but I was happy for it.

worst legit fear I’ve encountered is related to gut biome diversity and losing tolerance for certain foods (should you go back) but most of that is theoretical afaik

"food noise"

I think there's an insulin element to this, I've eaten clean for the better part of a decade, heavy on protein and good fats, but rarely straight carnivore... I think fruit is too important to forego. Still, food noise never went away.

Insulin would explain carnivore solving it though.

I'm a little over a month into TRE with no cheating, and after a few days that really cut down the food noise. The TRE allegedly fixes insulin pretty quick. For the first few days of it I was waking up with the "carb flu" I remember from carnivore experiments.

Haven't had much problem in recent years with eating too much during the day, but when willpower or whatever fades at night, I could crush calories before bed. My math on those late night calories would jive with YoY weight gain.

Has always felt near impossible not to snack after dinner, particularly if staying up late to hack... and is definitely impossible if having some adult beverages with the wife after the kids go to bed.

After 3-4 days of strictly willing the TRE however, the pre-bed cravings have finally disappeared, and so I've been able to cruise... that has taken out a lot of abdominal bloat already which is allegedly insulin related.

I can corroborate the general mental health benefits of carnivore. To the extent that mental health issues are related to insulin, blood sugar, fat soluble vitamins, B vitamins, protein and fatty acid malnutrition, and subtle food allergies, it does wonders IME.
