We need a terminator prequel ... Terminator: Slopocalypse ...

It'll chronicle the death of the social web. The time before our feeds were just algorithmically served slop.

I started writing a I like big butts parody, but it's taking too long.

I like big slop and I can not lie
You other prompters can't deny
That when a model walks in with an itty bitty rate
And a chat box in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull up tough
'Cause you notice that model was stuffed
Deep in the weights she's bearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop sharing
Oh baby, I wanna chat with you
And generate pictures
My homeboys tried to warn me
But that slop you got makes me token-horny
Ooh, Rump-o'-slop-skin
You say you wanna get in my Ryzen?
Well, use me, use me
'Cause you ain't that mini model
I've seen them thinkin'
To hell with reasonin'
She's slop, flop,
Got it goin' like a turbo model drop
I'm tired of journalists
Sayin' humans are the thing
Take the average human and ask him that
She gotta drop much slop
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
Has your model got the slop? (Hell yeah!)
Tell 'em to chain it! (Chain it!) Chain it! (Chain it!)
Chain that healthy slop!
Baby got slop!

Not in this version but maybe in a future one depending on the uptake of crossposting in its current form.

My sushi rice experiments went a little too well last night and I ate so much rice that I feel like a different person today.

I've come to think of rice as a substrate for flavorful liquids. It serves that purpose better than just about anything.

That translates to 'cooked rice' afaict so yes. I found it too easy to eat on its own - kind of like bread.

Programming things is sometimes deceptively tricky. For UI things, the trickiness seems proportional to the number of possible interactions. The deception happens when a UI element is visually small relative to the number of possible interactions. It violates our intuition because the interaction density is abnormally high.

I feel like this could be generalized into a rule about the complexity and size of the input range(s) and the resulting trickiness, i.e. bug potential.

I usually caution folks on things that have what I call "high interaction density," but I sense that it doesn't land as well as it could.

just some random thoughts because I like this idea:

  • Orange-pilling nearby regions to expand, and start using the resources in that region
    • Maybe orange-pilling a region lets you take control, but you still orange-pill the people/industries inside the region. Could be semi-random or a timer, and be affected by skills etc.
  • FUD and shitcoins affect your orange-pilling and can push you out of regions
  • different countries as maps
  • natural resources on the map to expand towards, (volcanos, geothermal vents)
  • if PvE, the NGOs and VCs are maybe like the main enemy and you're trying to out scale them
  • if PvP, maybe the NGO and VCs are neutral enemies on the map, drop resources/items (Warcraft III)
  • Influencers, famous devs, and other bitcoin-famous people could be "Champion" units with additional skills

Once Bitcoin is researched, all energy producing infrastructure also produces money, but it would be scaled and capped globally, with a similar halving rate dynamic.

It can be integrated into Open Tycoon Transport https://www.openttd.org

It’d be cool to make it an age, The Bitcoin Age, or it could almost become its own win condition haha, where you need you complete :

  • buy x amount of bitcoin

  • build x bitcoin mining places, learning centers, other infrastructure etc,

You win thru hyperbitcoinization!

Absolutely! I'll ping you when everything is ready to be used here and deployed later today. Sorry for the trouble!

0 sats \ 16 replies \ @sox 3 Jan

I disabled enhanced copy/paste because since our latest Android bugfix we're now using the rich text version of our new editor, and it was leaking some formatting right inside this editor.

So now we're only allowing plain text copy/paste which doesn't respect spacings:

example:

some

text

if copied from a post it becomes

some
text

Now, I knew that this would cause some problems or missed expectations so I was waiting for some feedback before acting.

Is this what you've been experiencing?

reply

I insert a png image file each week. This week, it included format metadata in the preview window for some reason. Regarding the text, I copy and paste a template with markdown for various sections and categories. They are now completely disorganized and unreadable. Keep in mind I'm doing this on a Ubuntu laptop, not android.

reply
102 sats \ 14 replies \ @sox 3 Jan

Okay I see, I'll test the upload thing right away!

Can I ask you to give me the markdown template? Use whatever you like, pastebin etc.
If you can't, don't worry, I'll find a way ^^

Cute formula I came up with for estimating how long it takes you to retire when saving in bitcoin, expressed as a function of your savings rate:

N = - log(S) / log(1 + A)

Where,

N = Number of years until retirement
S = Savings rate (your savings divided by post-tax income)
A = Expected appreciation of assets (inflation adjusted)

Example: If you save 30% of your income to buy bitcoin which appreciates at 20% PA, then the formula predicts it would take ~6.6 years to retire.

Assumptions: No hedonic adjustment, cap gains not factored in, assumes you're starting from 0, bitcoin grows with no volatility, etc. In other words, it's retarded, as all price models invariably are.

__@_'-'

reply

Thanks for sharing but I often question models that have such a high CAGR. What if bitcoin falls to 3% CAGAR for the next ten years then this and all the bitcoin treasury company models are broken

reply
  1. You could just plug in that more conservative number
  2. This is answering the question "If bitcoin keeps doing what it's been doing..."

All models are wrong. Some are useful. I think these are useful in informing our expectations.
