just some random thoughts because I like this idea:

  • Orange-pilling nearby regions to expand, and start using the resources in that region
    • Maybe orange-pilling a region lets you take control, but you still orange-pill the people/industries inside the region. Could be semi-random or a timer, and be affected by skills etc.
  • FUD and shitcoins affect your orange-pilling and can push you out of regions
  • different countries as maps
  • natural resources on the map to expand towards, (volcanos, geothermal vents)
  • if PvE, the NGOs and VCs are maybe like the main enemy and you're trying to out scale them
  • if PvP, maybe the NGO and VCs are neutral enemies on the map, drop resources/items (Warcraft III)
  • Influencers, famous devs, and other bitcoin-famous people could be "Champion" units with additional skills

You're making me think of a potential bitcoin mod for Civilization.

Once Bitcoin is researched, all energy producing infrastructure also produces money, but it would be scaled and capped globally, with a similar halving rate dynamic.

It’d be cool to make it an age, The Bitcoin Age, or it could almost become its own win condition haha, where you need you complete :

  • buy x amount of bitcoin
  • own or be in alliance with most of the world
  • build x bitcoin mining places, learning centers, other infrastructure etc,

You win thru hyperbitcoinization!

I haven't played Civ VII yet, but the idea of it being a new age with fundamentally different mechanics is really cool.

It can be integrated into Open Tycoon Transport https://www.openttd.org
