@ek improved the wallet forms to be more intuitive. For each wallet, it asks you for sending details then receive details then settings rather than having you tab between them undirected.
@sox added the ability to disable live comments on a device. The toggle is in the footer next to the dark mode and lightning animation toggles.
@SimpleStacker made it so that you can embed a table of contents {:toc} for a post using markdown based on markdown headings (e.g. # this is a heading).
@Scroogey fixed the inability to set a cursor limit consistently when paging across items.
@brymut added support for github codespaces to our repo allowing contributors unfamiliar with docker or with limited local compute to contribute to SN more easily.

I saw it earlier and clicked it straight! Thank you so much!
Glad I could fulfill the request! ^^
It’s not per account but per device, we figured that it’s really hard that someone would change devices once set up.
Per device is perfect!
I struggle to understand what this means. Thought it’s about opting out from receiving notifications when someone comments your post, but that functionality can be toggled off in settings.
Can you explain please?
It's so that the page doesn't live update new comments while you're working on a long reply, because that can be distracting. Like zen mode. The button is at the bottom of the page, to the right of the lightning animation.
Thanks! Yep, saw the icon crossed and got confused, cause it looks like comments or notifications are disabled.
Definitely a nice feature, but a different icon might be worth considering — maybe a Buddha silhouette? Your comparison to zen mode is spot on.
I’m sure the team will get more feedback in the coming days.
Yeah, that's a common issue with buttons. Should they show the current state or the state you'll be in once you click? Ours show the state after click, so that's why it looks disabled when it's enabled, lol.
I just realized that a good way to test this is a light/dark mode. You instantly see the logic.
But my original comment was about the look of the icon itself — for me it’s rather associated with enabling/disabling comments than with “do not disturb while I’m composing” mode, or what @optimism (very precisely in my opinion) described as “zen mode”.
Yeah, I agree, maybe there's a better icon. We use remixicon for our icons. Is in there an icon that stands out to you for this use case?
The only one I could think of was maybe loop-right-line, but to be honest that's probably confusing too.
The icon pack didn't return anything on my keyword search
stfu. lol.The button disables live updates to comments globally, not only when composing!
Is there a need for an option that disables live comments only when composing?
About the state, maybe flipping the logic can be more intuitive.
The wallet step by step is a great improvement. I'm ashamed to say it took me a while to notice the tabs...
This matches exactly what @k00b said regarding the previous interface haha (they are easy to miss)
No shame. Bad UX is bad.
Embedding a table of contents with markdown is a game changer for longer posts. Thanks @SimpleStacker for this near feature.
Seconded.
I was craving for this feature yesterday when composing my introduction post #1127364
Will definitely use this in the future. Kudos!
Yep just write
{:toc}where you want your table of contents and it should auto populate based on the headings in your post!Example?
You can try making a post with this in the markdown box:
**Table of Contents** {:toc} # Heading 1 Some text. ## Heading 1.1 Some more text. # Heading 2 Even more text.Try it out and see how it looks (make modifications as desired)
Cool. Why can't we use it on comments?
Heh, there was some internal discussion about whether it should be enabled for comments too. Can read about it here: https://github.com/stackernews/stacker.news/pull/2213
Short answer is probably just that we don't think any would really need to use it for comments.
Love it! Big fan of Markdown — it was my bridge that helped me transition from the guy using Mediums and Substacks of the world to the man trying out Jekyll, then Hugo and now building my own websites.
It’s also why SN feels like home 🧡
One PR at a time
Exciting stuff! Love to see the updates
@SimpleStacker @pory_gone I'm unable to pay your bounties. Requesting an invoice from your lightning address is failing.
I fixed my node so everything should be ok!
Ah I think my channel capacity was exhausted. Try again and it should work.
Awesome to see the community growing with 25.7m sats awarded to contributors so far. The OSCARs program is really motivating!
