Colin "Coward" "Cow Herd" Cowherd (aka Seahawks fanboy and the dumbest person in sports media) still thinks the 49ers will finish last in the NFC West.
I will try to be unbiased here. Their superstars are older. The roster does have depth issues and yes they wanted to keep Greenlaw, which is why they drafted his clone Nick Martin. Huf was always going to be gone. He is great but always injured and they have young safeties Mustapha and Brown to pair with vets like Pinnock and Grant. I do think DB depth could be a major issue this season. I think they addressed the DLine well enough and LBs well enough but if the defense has a downfall I expect it will be in the defensive backfield. They will be good if all their starters are healthy. Lenoir and Green are very good corners and Stout and Brown will be at least serviceable at nickel. By all accounts Stout looks great but he is a rookie so let's temper expectations as that's a tough position for a rookie to step in. Again, once Mustapha comes back they are good at safety with Mustapha and Pinnock or Mustapha and Brown but if they have a couple injuries it gets dicey.
Saleh will have a huge impact. Nick Sorenson was the worst defensive coordinator in the NFL last year. Saleh has routinely had top ten defenses as a DC and HC. He will build that again in SF. the D might not be top 10 to start the year but it will get there by mid to late season.
The offense will be better than last year. CMC healthy, Guerrendo as a solid 2, the OLine should be at least serviceable with Bartch over Banks at LG and much more depth than in the past. Having a top tier blocking TE2 is going to free up Kittle a lot. Pearsall, Robinson and Jennings can carry the WR load until Aiyuk comes back mid season and Purdy has added a deep ball (even if just for show that threat is going to open up ton of space). The offense also might start slow but I expect it will be cooking and will be a top 5 unit by mid to late season.
Special teams should be way better with a coordinator that actually holds players to account and with a punter who can also do kickoffs so Moody can just focus on not screwing up FGs too much. I expect they will be a top half of the league unit.
See you in February Coward! Maybe you will actually watch a game sometime between now and then.
Sats for all, GR
Beef! Beef! Beef!

Preseason? Doesn't matter. No Mercy.
reply
And, the Raiders were the biggest underdogs for week 1 of preseason. Easy money
reply
Maybe I will put some sats on them on bet play. They play Thursday?
reply
Odds definitely shifted but I took the Raiders +4.5 as a matter of principle.
reply
I didn't realize that, but yes

Should be beef. He is Cow Herd after all.
reply
Lmao you had me at Coward
FWIW Yahoo fantasy says to draft a lot of 49ers this year!!
reply
Coward is just salty because it is his Seattle Seagulls that will finish last in the NFC West and Sam Darnold will turn back into the pumpkin he is.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm seeing you guys shell out dramatically on the teams that don't look too amazing to me. 49ers are bag of old monks and Bills are just a joke. The only two teams that will be most impactful are gonna be Eagles and Ravens as they both have flying bird on their logo.
@remindme in 2 months.
reply
I like the Ravens. They just need to figure out how to win a playoff game against a good team. Otherwise they might be the best team in the NFL.
The Eagles are an excellent team with a very difficult schedule trying to repeat something that is not usually repeatable- injury luck. We will see. If they stay healthy they are definitely a super bowl contender.
Bills will be very good and play in a weak division.
49ers will be great or bad based on health of their stars. Remains to be seen.
Why are you reminding in two months? That will only be four weeks into the season. Likely won't know anything by then.
reply
But by your shelling of sats it seems you've already declared them the winners. Anyways best of luck but I'm not long on them until they prove me wrong in their first five games.
reply
I fully expect if the 49ers are healthy they will be one of the best teams in the league and should be a top contender for Super Bowl. I am just having a little fun by trying to keep them at the top. They should probably be 5th or 6th if I am being honest.
I don't think you will find out in the first 5 games who the 49ers will be come the end of the season and playoff time. They have key contributors that will be out the first few weeks and a lot of rookies who will take time to develop. I wouldn't be surprised if they are 3-2 or 2-3 after 5 weeks but I expect they will be go on a win streak in the middle of the year.
In 2022 the 49ers went 3-4 to start and then won 10 in a row. So you never know how teams will gel after the first 1/3 of the season or even half of the season.
reply
Even if they are 3-2, I'd be surprised and optimistic for them. I agree they might hit a winning streak at a point in the league. But if they can win a few in the beginning without the key players, they'll definitely make it to the playoffs.
And TBH, I'm little opposite to what you guys are doing there on the market. I'll see how things are turning out to be and then put my sats. BTW, Eagles are still my undeniable favourites, but who knows cowboys or commies turn the tables this year.

Few things are pointless to me than the opinions of sports talk guys. Predictions like this make me roll my eyes. I'm a 49er fan sure, but I rolled my eyes harder at these dopes talking like the Dodgers would be unbeatable this year...
Hype nearly as bad as the crypto world
reply
Dodgers are pretty good but as we saw with the 49ers last year a rash of injuries can derail a season pretty quick. Dodgers seem to have weathered it but they aren't as heavy favourites as they were in preseason.
reply
I'm referring to the comments like. I don't know if they will even lose a game. Or its not fair how stacked this team is...
Over and over again these clowns hype some new player that has only played for a few years talking about he may be the greatest ever. Too many examples to list if I paid much attention to these people.
