ALL OF THEM?!
I've gone from not really knowing what I want to be when I grow up, to definitely having no idea what I want to be when I grow up more.
I usually get my most important procrastination done first, that way I waste time on the vital stuff nice and early.
Then I move into the longer-term slacking off which takes me into mid-afternoon.
The pressure of actually getting some work done building, I then usually go for a swim, telling myself that once I've finished that, I'll get to the boring stuff.
Then, I usually get side-tracked by the YouTube algo, which takes me through to the end of the day.
It's a hard life, don't waste it on "work".
Read this earlier - brilliant as usual.
r/Bitcoin has been an embarrassing bullshit factory forever. Captured, just like @Bitcoin on Twitter, and bitcoin.com, on t'interwebz.
There's a group of some of the most active Core devs who are heavily against any spam filtering, shut down any discussion about filters, and close PRs which seek to fix the spam problem.
We're seeing the attack vector play out IMO. It's always been the case that if you can capture 5 or 6 key people, you can influence the direction of Bitcoin development.
I don't know if any Core devs have been captured as such, but the culture has certainly changed (by their own admission) from one which patches exploits, to one which panders to miner earnings above all other considerations (again, by their own admission).
I think this is dangerous, and I would like to see other node implementations which give the user control over the transactions they want to propagate in the mempool gaining more market share, such as Knots.
Further, I hope more and more miners point their hashing to Ocean Mining, which gives individual miners the option to select their preferred "block template", with the option to not include any of the transactions which take advantage of the spam exploits in the block.
The bigger picture is that the developments above would add to Bitcoin's decentralisation, reduce attack vectors, and give individual users more sovereignty over their participation in the network.
I don't think there are any rewards just for zapping now, are there? Or perhaps for larger amounts?
Yes it's fine to seek more user sat deposits to contribute to the site, and I will topup my wallet from time to time, but I don't think too many people will. It would be great to see more and more users and I think the rewards will drive that, though I have to confess I have no idea how it all really works, who funds the site etc.
I'm only drawing from my own motivations to participate which I expect are shared by others.
I'm pretty new to this, but it seems to me that the posters and commenters are not the only group who keep things going.
There are a lot of people who perhaps only comment occasionally, and instead zap the posts/comments they find interesting or worthwhile.
I don't know what the proportion is, but a lot of people will mainly just read and zap, and they're the people who were previously rewarded with the daily rewards who will use the site less than they did before if only the top x number of posters/commenters are rewarded.
Yes, the posts and comments I think are more important generally - the content drives everything. But without people reading and zapping you run the risk of it ending up just the top x zapping each other.
Perhaps the drive is for the "zappers" to step up their funding of the wallets to fund the zaps, but really I think there are a large number of people who just hope things here are self-sustaining, they get zapped occasionally, they redistribute those sats to posts and comments that catch their eye.
I love this place, I think it's a great idea, and I'd be delighted if it grew exponentially, but the reward mechanisms in place are vital for that, and I don't think only rewarding the top x posters and commenters is the way to go to achieve that.
Just my two sats, as I say I'm new here so I may be completely wrong, but I can only be driven by my own motivation to be more or less involved, and I think that will mirror the same for others.
It's your gig, but I just won't take part in this, and I doubt I'm alone.
Those 100 people will be the only ones left using SN in the end.
If you can't see that then it's a shame, this could be really big.
I cut my zapping right back in March as I'm more of a zapper than a commenter or thread starter, and with the daily rewards disappearing, I'm running out of sats!
Absolutely.
I see just a title and link in the title with no context, and I just move along. At least tell people why it's interesting/relevant or provide some thoughts.
I love it.
I'm currently building the ideas behind a local Bitcoin community on Koh Samui, Thailand, and I would love to display this in the space.
Compare the amount of childhood vaccines in the US vs other developed nations, along with the childhood disease stats and you'll quickly reach the conclusion that the vaccine industrial complex in the US is out of control.
