I am not sure what you're getting at. Bitcoin can be bought in other amounts that are not 1 whole BTC and you can spend in any amount you want. The price has nothing to do with peoples ability to spend. Even if Bitcoin goes to 100,000 million per coin, you will still be able to buy and use some fraction for some amount.
Yeah alt history shows are great. The Man In The High Castle is an outstanding show but got weird in the last season or two. Still worth watching, I really loved the CGI in the show.

I wonder what things will be like once Strike brings the Bitcoin network to checkout and self checkout systems as was announced at the last conference. I believe they said they plan to have partners coming online by the end of the year. It will be very interesting to be able to check out at Walmart using your Lightning wallet and I suspect this will be something that helps the government shape regulation surrounding Bitcoin.
The good news is even if Bitcoin fails at being a currency because of its legal classification as property, the network itself can still be used as a payments network regardless of how the currency part of it is regulated. So if we cant spend it, we will just become liquidity providers. I wouldn't be too worried.
Both but I like to think it will be more good than bad. Either way I see Bitcoin consuming most if not the entire financial system. The only thing regulation will do is accelerate adoption because there are institutions that would love to get into it, but cannot because they have no legal guidance and don't want to take on the risk.
I recognize there are Bitcoiners that are strongly against this and I get it. Less government and all that good stuff. But there is just no reality where that will ever be a thing, so I just try to keep my expectations realistic.
I can build you a hospital for $100. Early Access. Will release the full version in a few years, promise.
It is crazy to me that a nation state is buying Bitcoin. It is also crazy to me that someone like Saylor is perfectly capable of buying as much Bitcoin as a nation state. I don't know what either of these say about the world, but it is interesting.
Holy fuck The Boys is wild this season. It takes a lot to shock me but they accomplished it and managed to make their previous seasons look so mild by comparison.
I have been trying to get myself to get into For All Mankind, almost did last night but ended up watching Candy instead.
Fireworks and strong edibles and catching up on my massive backlog of TV shows. The edibles are kicking in already.
Might crank it to some porn later too.
I don't know if its productive to go on a rant about "MSM = brain rot" because the reality is that ship sailed decades ago when all news media got deregulated and could begin reporting on more than just facts. Things like opinion pieces and such. You can thank the Republicans for that one which is a little cute since they are the most vocal about how bad news organizations have become.
What I do know is it is hard to get a clear picture of the current government over there. I think the What Bitcoin Podcast episode with Bukele was interesting because it felt like he has no interest in being an authoritarian dictator but at the same time he was really trying to move the definition of the two words around and also even said something to the tune of "How can I be a dictator, people vote for me!" and his reasoning was something along the lines that people don't vote for dictators or something. It was really stupid reasoning.
I figure it is a situation that only time will tell and I won't think of that government in neither a positive or negative light. Ultimately, Bitcoin is for everyone and everyone will use it. What this means is that we are not obligated to play team politics with anyone. Bitcoin frees you to be objective. Yet, I do see so many people organizing themselves into pro or anti Bukele "teams". There is no need for that, much like there is no need to staunchly identify as either Democrat or Republican to the point where people can only vomit their side's talking points.
I don't even like to consider myself a Bitcoiner for the same reason. Feels like I am pushing myself closer to choosing a tribe, and I want to remain objective when it comes to Bitcoin too.
In any case I think the next 10 years will be critical for El Salvador and Bitcoin will reveal the true nature of their government, just as it will any other government that adopts it. That is why it is a Trojan horse.
I will happily custody your Bitcoin. I have been keeping mine safe for years so you can trust me! As they say... "Share your keys share your crypto"
So its more or less a mixture of surplus and buying new equipment. I agree, in any case causing any more problems with the tax system is going to harm America. Especially if the net result makes it more difficult for America to service its debit. Part of me wonders if Russia was aware of what the economic impact to global economies war with Ukraine would be and if that is a primary factor into why they decided to attack. In a few months, Russia will have contributed significantly to food shortages. I have seen estimates ranging anywhere from 10-15% of the global supply of food production is expected to be gone. This plus all the other things globally going on with supply chain issues, on-going pandemics, climate, and fuel prices seem to all be adding up into a situation that I can only describe as "Fucked".
Maybe Russia had no idea at first, but it is certain they are realizing this now and are using the opportunity to further destabilize America into a weaker global power.
Does Umbrel list the apps and a summary of the apps anywhere on their site? When you click "App Store" It does not show a reasonably navigable way to view all the apps. It is just a list of scrolling icons with summaries, but no real control over what scrolls past you. Very annoying to view their website to even see if Umbrel is worth my time.
I don't think Ukraine is being funded with tax dollars directly, rather they are being funded with physical weapons surplus. At least that is my understanding.
I think it would be far more practical for Russia to DDOS the tax system to prevent America from servicing its debit. Or rather, to add another factor into making it difficult. The tax system is already overburdened. Ask any IRS employee about how backlogged they are right now. Adding additional things to protract that burden I believe would be a more reasonable goal. As of right now even when taxes are paid on time the IRS does not have the manpower to keep up.
Yeah I think the biggest issue is no matter what, without at least visiting it is nearly impossible to get a clear or accurate picture. I would like to at least visit in the near future!
Adoption means Adoption for everyone - including institutions. I think its equally important they are included and if you have a long term mentality on Bitcoin, it literally won't matter whatever the negative aspects they could have in any immediate future.
Could someone explain why they are suing? I thought the SEC was pretty clear in that they view Bitcoin as a commodity. Would this not put it under CFTC jurisdiction or am I missing something?
If things in America slip sideways in a dramatic way it is good to know I can get citizenship there but even then it is not a place I would want to be voluntarily. Or really anywhere in South America. I think I want to see what happens under future political leaders and allow for things to mature from where they are today. Outside of a select few cities or towns it honestly does not sound like that great of a place.
Peter is maybe the only Bitcoin podcaster I watch. Too many others use their platform to vomit out partisan political talking points.
