Paying bills in US - looking for opinions

Yeah, I wonder if you could save the double transaction fee at least: move it only once (sell) rather than twice.

Lets say I want to use bitcoin from self-custody to pay regular bills like mortgage, student loan or electricity.

I read other posts on SN and there are many services out there such as: Strike, Spritz, BitPay, or Fold. I assume these all require KYC and send you some tax report at the end of the year, you figure out the cost basis and all is good. I’m ok with this.

I’m curious to hear from people who actually tried any of these services. What were your experiences? Can you pay directly from your wallet or need to first move btc to their custody? Is there a way to setup autopay? What kind of bills they support in the US? What were the actual fees?

Yeah, I guess posting bounty on SN is basically the product I need:-)

I tried to use 99designs. They charged my credit card $299 first. Then they blocked my account, requiring full KYC (uploading my ID, selfie, etc)

Is there a similar service (market for designers, ie to get logo designs) but Bitcoin-Lightning powered?

Yep, which is ultimately ads. And for Nostr client to be funded through ads, it will require a lot more active users.

When I see all the progress, all the projects being developed, I feel the progress is so fast.

Then I look at number of users on Stacker.news, Geyser (~50k), or even entire Nostr (~500k) and compare to Instagram, Facebook (billion plus, at least 4 orders of magnitude more) and I see what my friends mean when they say Bitcoin needs adoption.

Where are we? What proxy metrics would you use to get a sense where on the global adoption Bitcoin is?

Good point. What's needed for Bitcoin to be ready for 300M country to fully adopt? From technology perspective, ie assuming the country/people want to do it.
