Can't wait to see how much they rob their users for withdrawals 🤣
Right. Major difference between loan backed by accumulated capital vs loan backed by the central bank money printer.
I'd love to find someone in the first scenario, but that's not going to be easy to find IMO 😄.
This is why they eventually fail as they need to take on more and more risk in order to generate lot of profits 😂
It's a free market. Companies becoming sellout will go out of business, see Coinbase.
Everyone has a different learning path. Everyone has different threat models. The free market offers solution to everyone on those spectrums.
Contrary to fiat, with bitcoin you are free to choose your way.
If you hate some business model that's fine you don't have to interact with those.
This is what financial freedom looks like.
If I take a loan overs 20 or 30 years, interest rates are irrelevant. The amount I'll pay back overall will be worthless in purchasing power terms.
The dilemma here is that your loans are money expansion, and therefore making the inflation problem worst. You are participating in a tiny tiny way in the debasement of your friends and family savings. Of course that's a drop in the ocean, but if everyone thinks this way the problem just get worst.
That being said the said friends and family probably are also doing the same, so maybe my point does not hold.
I love your "cantillionaire spectrum" idea. That's a great way to put it.
I also agree that in the end, what I do won't matter much as the system is made for infinite debasement of people's energy.
Maybe a moral way to approach this would be to:
a. enjoy my knowledge of the scam and short fiat to the ground by contracting loans to fund my life
b. educate as many people as I can, hopefully saving them from a 100% certain melt of their savings purchasing power
c. continue building on bitcoin
All fiat denominated assets are going to zero in purchasing power and vs bitcoin (Moscow time). Long term, you won't beat the real inflation with any of your investment. So diversification does not make any sense, everything is in the same basket (the fiat basket).
What "this type of risk" about bitcoin you're referring to?
The best situation would be to find someone who has lot of capital, looking for a steady return beating the bank rates, not willing to take on more risk on the market or others assets. I can offer to pay back in sats as well, a 20 years auto DCA for that person.
Yeah for a smaller purchase that'd be possible for me. Few companies offer this kind of service, probably mostly focused in the US.
What's yours @jimmysong? On my end, I'm currently following the "way too much junk food" diet. Gained lot of weight. Need to work on it.
The capacity of a lightning channel is not unlimited. It is limited by the sats you use to fund it. So you can’t receive more sats than the amount you used to fund it, unless you buy channel liquidity from a node that provides it.
I'd like to clarify this a bit for new users. If you open a channel of say 300,000 sats, you will NOT be be able to receive anything through this channel yet. This is because all the liquidity (your 300,000 sats) are on your side of the channel. In order to be able to receive funds on that channel, you need to spend first. So for example if you wanted to receive 150,000 sats using this channel, you first need to send 150,000 sats to someone else through that channel.
Summed amounts are probably too big. Remember each block their find has at least 6.25 BTC which they need to redistribute. The liquidity will only go in one direction (from the pool to miners) so they would need to constantly do swaps to refill their channels. This is not even mentioning how unreliable the lightning network is if you run your own lightning node.
Having some sats on Liquid is useful as well now that you can swap from Liquid BTC to Lightning https://liquid.boltz.exchange/
That's a bug and we fixed it in master already. It will be progressively deployed in prod. See https://github.com/mempool/mempool/pull/3791.
Self hosted instance will get the fix in 2.5.1 one we tag it.

If both exchanges provides the same level of service I would of course go with the Bitcoin only exchange.
Do you know a Bitcoin only alternative to Bitrefill which provides the same quality of service?
