I was curious about the book by y Saifedean Ammous as well, but found the maximalist approach off-putting.
Finally I decided to give it a try so I heard his speech at the Austrian Bitcoin Association in 2018 on YouTube, what I heard convinced me never to buy the book, but I still respect the author, he is an Austrian Economist, and has good intentions, besides selling more books.
For Bitcoin to succeed just being an speculative asset to get more fiat from your Bitcoin is not enough, we also need it to be what Satoshi wanted, a useful means to do transactions, and ideally make it as anonymous as cash. In both areas there is zero progress in Bitcoin itself, thankfully via L2s, Sidechains and Lightning there are some hopeful developments.
So 100% I agree with your assessment, the book will just give us more HODLers, not much more, and what we need is more cypherpunks, people like Satoshi Nakamoto.
VERY COOL update of Satoshi's algorithm, this time with useful applications for AI matrix multiplication!
First great initiative!
Second, your link to Join Our Community link is broken.
I would be interested in joining for sure.
The same techniques for surveillance that China has in place, are coming disguised as good intentions to the West.
UK is already a basket case of surveillance against the people.
America must oppose this wholeheartedly, fortunately I do not see it moving forward, but it must be consistently opposed in every nation or the surveillance state and Internet KYC becomes law.
Siggy,
You have laid down the challenging climate for writers today, indeed it is hard to get paying customers and AI is not helping.
Let me offer some good news beyond the great initiative you shared, the Stacker News Fiction initiative.
For over a year I have been working on a piece of software that should be released next month, it is called Satoshi Notes, it will allow writers to share any article, even book length and sell it for Bitcoin with absolute privacy, and no censorship.
The software itself consists of two parts a desktop app that is completely free, and a server that provides the sharing of your writing on the web, and also lets you sell it for Bitcoin.
I plan to announce it here when it ships, but I wanted to share some screenshots from our website that will be launched shortly.
I will checkout Boardwalk Cash.
About Tether, and all stable coins that are tied to an asset, especially US Dollars they can all freeze your account, and maybe even take your funds away. This has happened before with USDT, and the rest are not an exception.
That said DAI, an Ethereum based stablecoin is more reliable, and can not be arbitrarily frozen or seized. We need something like DAI but for BTC.
@SimpleStacker the passing of the BBB is a sign of better times, and more investment and a strong US economy... debt is the risk, but without it Trump wouldn't have managed to pass the bill.
I strongly think now that Bitcoin will rise above $130K USD this year because the economic agenda of Trump moved forward, and him, and his family is strongly pro Bitcoin, and pro crypto.
Are there any good BTC stablecoins? We need these!
We clearly need this to offset the move to US based stablecoins that are fully tracked by OFAC and many governments.
USDT is convenient, but it is tracked, and can be easily frozen by Tether. USDT is not backed by any kind of crypto currency, just US dollar based assets.
For what is worth Primal has worked pretty much flawlessly since I installed it in my iPhone, recommended.
I also ocassionally use Damus, but prefer Primal. It is good that we have choices, and I hope Damus gets better.
The problem is the lack of anonymity, and the weaponizing of law, and NGOs who persecute those who do not follow like obedient sheep what the state, or Big Corps want to promote.
Examine what is happening in the UK, and EU where posting a meme, or criticizing a woke or immigration policy can result in a fine, or even jail time.
In Canada speech is under attack too, it seems only the US is resisting this immense pressure, but it was mostly because Trump won, and him, and his party were the targets of huge lawfare, and persecution.
The cowards are not stupid, they notice what happens when they open their mouth.
How to turn cowards into cowboys? Give them tech to speak out anonymously, elect politicians that value freedom, reduce the size of useless bureaucracies, remove censorship laws, and increase the amount of decentralized news... also places like Stacker News help, since a level of anonymity, and the ability to share and discuss news is rewarded. We need many more venues like it!
Is not just you, movies nowadays suck, with few exceptions.
In a year there are probably 2 good movies worth watching in English, and a few in foreign languages we never hear about.
I suggest you look for old movies, even black and white ones, plenty of gems over there. You just have to adjust initially to a slower pace, but the writing, and acting were excellent. I would say until 1990 when digital effects were not the norm you can find pretty good movies. Many.
Welcome back! After the Biden administration persecution of Wasabi Wallet, I was unsure you would be back, and I am quite glad you are.
The best Bitcoin privacy wallet is here again, new and improved!
Are you aware how things are with the current Trump administration? Tings are way better for Bitcoin with this government, but I have not found news about Wasabi yet. I am referring to Operation Chokepoint 2.0:

Phase 1 is in progress. Just check the news, and the huge financial interests influencing Bitcoin Core developers, and the overall concentration of Bitcoin in centralized exchanges and ETFs.
The main solution is to use Bitcoin as a medium of exchange, and resist the mermaid calls for yield, and loans, and fiat for your Bitcoin.
Thank you for the most balanced, honest, and technically sound discussion on the whole OP_RETURN subject.
