yeah he's great
I read the book last summer and thought it was great.
Then I went to the Network State Conference last week in Amsterdam. It's a really exciting and positive movement of people building parallel institutions away from inept and often corrupt Big Governments/Institutions. Everything from medicine & housing to finance & media was covered.
I think every Network State of the future will need Bitcoin because if you have broken money you will eventually end up with a broken society. BTC is the foundation and cornerstone. So in a way they all will be "Bitcoiner Network States"
Balaji's concept of "building parallel instead of reforming from within" is very powerful to me. As he says, you could never reform the Fed, Satoshi had to build Bitcoin. Taxi cartels were taken down by Uber in lots of countries. Twitter helped political figures get their message out when mainstream media would have never given them a fair ride. What else? There are lots of incumbents who will fall...
From a draft Twitter thread I'm writing:
Nostr represents the future of how we will communicate and distribute the written word: decentralised, free, independent, incorruptible. fiatjaf created it in 2020 and it’s been growing since, offering a new hope for content creators tied up by Big Tech and their walled gardens
On Nostr you own your social experience. Keep followers, posts, likes, and replies across platforms. Some people won’t care, but for creators - this is key! People use Nostr clients to see and post stuff - WTF’s a Nostr client ? 🤔
Clients are websites/apps that connect to the Nostr network. Think of them like different doors to the same room – your content and followers stay the same, whichever door you choose.🚪🚪 I’m not going to link a client here because Elon owns this door and could close it on me.
He also owns the room. On Nostr, nobody owns the room, you can just build or use doors to enter it.
A for colour.
C in B&W - this looks like a black and a white swan which is a cool idea. (i realise they are actually ostriches). It also reminds me of ☯️ .. I'd follow this one more and see where it takes me
Trying to implement lightning zaps in my new web app project. Any pointers/resources/helpers would be great! it's all new to me , enjoying the learning curve tho
This is the manual install which is necessary until the plugin is admitted to the store.
- Head over to releases https://github.com/jamesmagoo/nostr-writer/releases and download a the pre-release for upcoming features. You just need 3 files: main.js, manifest.json, styles.css
- Navigate to your plugin folder in your preferred vault: VaultFolder/.obsidian/plugins/
- Create a new folder in the plugins folder called nostr-writer
- Copy and paste in the 3 files that you downloaded from releases - main.js, styles.css, manifest.json i.e. into the newly created nostr-writer folder.
- Enable the plugin by going into Settings > Community plugins > Installed plugins > toggle 'nostr-writer'.
(All of this will not be necessary once the plugin is admitted to the store.)
Not on the plugin store yet . Waiting for final approval from the Obsidian team - hopefully this week!
Nice, You guys have done some amzing work on SN. looking forward to diving into your repo and learning more
Great feedback - thank you! Going to get to work on some of these!
I've included some of those suggested features in the pre-release - including a ⚡️ address & a published articles view!
I'll reply here once this is available on the plugin store for easy install.
That would be cool.I just inputted by public key in the settings - as a noob here it's not clear to me where this is used?
Yeah I like your idea of connecting to a relay and getting Kind 1 events for this pub key. Maybe then to display them in a tab next to bio? Perhaps kind 30023 long-form events are a little too big/clunky in terms of UI/UX
