Finally saw this, and after all the criticism, I expected something much worse. The problem isn't that it wasn't good -- it was fine -- but that it was small. The stakes were small compared to other Marvel movies, the story was generally cut off from the rest of the MCU, and there's not much different at the end than at the beginning.
It also feels weird that almost all the plot points (other than ones from Falcon and Winter Soldier and, of all things, The Eternals) are from 2008's Incredible Hulk.
Anyway, if this had been released as a straight-to-Disney-Plus movie, or a short miniseries, it would be fine (it's way better than Secret Invasion, at a bare minimum). The acting's top notch (just putting Ford, Mackie, Nelson, and Esposito in a film is enough there), the dialogue's entertaining, and most of the action is pretty solid. Go in expecting some movie-of-the-week action and it's enjoyable. But I don't think it's got any impact on the greater MCU that makes it a requirement.
